When Miss World 2014 Came to Town

Even if she jetted in as unobtrusively as possible & without the usual fanfare, the Philippines still caught wind of reigning 2014 Miss World Rolene Strauss’ recent visit to the country.

Miss World  charms the Philippine media
The very regal & sophisticated beauty who came with Miss World Organization Chairperson Julia Morley was here for the blessing & opening of the Beauty with a Purpose (BWAP) project of the Miss World Organization for the ward of the Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Department of the Philippine General Hospital.

Even if Miss World 2014’s visit was a very short one, it was more than enough for her to captivate a lot of Filipinos. Some of the memorable activities that were squeezed into the tight schedule were the reunion with Miss World 2013 Megan Young & Miss World Philippines 2014 Valerie Weigmann & a dinner to celebrate the Chinese New Year!

It might have been a very fleeting encounter with Miss World 2014 but the memories will linger for quite some time

Thank you Miss World 2014!

Miss Philippines- Australia 2014 is a Boholana

Did you know that the reigning Miss Philippines-Australia 2014 is a Boholana?

outgoing queen Melanie Balagtas crowns Glyssa Perez
She is Glyssa Bingas  Perez who represented the Visayan Association of Australia Inc. in the said pageant. According to her brother Gabe Perez, their Bohol roots are courtesy of their mom whose maternal side is related with the Gonzagas of San Carlos, Danao, Bohol.

The gorgeous Glyssa who stands 5’ 6” tall also won the Best in Filipiniana, Best in Swimsuit and Best in Evening Gown special awards.

Will Glyssa do an Eloise Gonzales? You see, Elouise is also an Australia- based Boholana who came home to represent Sagbayan in the 2002 Miss Bohol Pageant where she eventually finished as 2nd Runner Up to Cherry Mae Bacarro of Dimiao.

Let’s see what will happen in the next few months considering that two major pageants are coming up this July: Miss Bohol 2015 and Miss Sandugo International 2015

The Girl to Beat in Bb Pilipinas 2015

The 34 official candidates of the  2015  Bb Pilipinas Pageant were formally introduced to media, sponsors, past and previous titleholders and pageant bloggers at Sofitel Philippine Plaza a few days ago.

This year’s batch is an interesting mix of first- timers and repeaters, of mestizas and dusky Pinay beauties.

HEAVY FAVORITE
The runaway favorite and a frontrunner for the Miss Philippines- Universe crown is the tall morena beauty from Palawan. The 19 year old Janicel Lubina was clearly the media favorite and got the loudest buzz from those who were there during the press presentation.

Adding more drama in Lubina’s quest for the top plum of Bb Pilipinas is her sob story of hardship & difficulties being the daughter of a poor family.

But for sheer beauty, commanding stage presence and the wow factor, Janicel is definitely this year’s “It Girl”

OTHER FAVORITES:
The others who stood out are the following:

#19 Christi Lynn McGarry

#28 Hannah Ruth Sison

#29 Nancy Lee Leonard

# 4 Renee Soraya Hassani

# 34 Teresita Ssen Marquez

# 24  Anna Lorraine Colis
