Will Miss Philippines be the 2015 Miss Universe?

Tonight, we await with giddiness and bated breath if indeed Pia Wurtzbach will fulfill our cherished wish that Santa Claus will give us our third Miss Universe crown tomorrow.

Will the stars align in favor of this exquisite Filipina- German beauty? Without doubt, Pia has been one of the strongest bets that the Philippines has ever sent to the world’s most exciting and most prestigious beauty competition?

Gloria Diaz is the first Filipina to win the Miss Universe crown in 1969 followed by Margie Moran in 1973. We almost won in 1999 with Miriam Quiambao as 1st RU to Miss Botswana and of course Janine Tugonon in 2012.

Majority of pageant websites, blogs and pageant experts have pegged her as one of the frontrunners to be the second Miss Universe queen within 2015 after giving one of the most splendid and breathtaking swimsuit and evening gown presentations during the Presentation Show a couple of nights ago.  

Your Roving Eye believes that her strongest competition will be from USA and Colombia. Along with Pia Wurtzbach, my other favorite girls are the mademoiselle from France and the girls from Belgium and Vietnam.

Her Miss Universe journey started in 2013 where she finished as 1^st Runner Up. She came back last year but ended up as semifinalist. This year, she was finally vindicated and her stellar performance has been rewarded.

Tomorrow is anybody’s ballgame. With a new owner, expect changes including the selection format and the prototype of winner that will be crowned.

Regardless of the outcome, she has made us proud.

Miss Philippines During 2015 Miss Universe Presentation Show

The preliminaries are now over and the prelim judges have concluded their difficult job; whittle down the field to just 15 ladies who will continue in their journey towards the Miss Universe 2015 crown on December 20.

Just a few hours ago, all the 80 girls competed in swimsuits and evening gowns at the Axis Theatre in Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Prior to the preliminaries also known as the Presentation Show, all the girls underwent a closed- door preliminary interview with the judges much like a job applicant undergoing a job interview with the employers.

After all, the Miss Universe title and the responsibilities that go with it is actually a job that begins after being crowned the winner and ends when the crown is passed on to the next queen a year after. There is also a swimsuit preview where the judges observe the girls and write down notes that would help them when they come up with their final decision.

FIRST HAND ACCOUNT

According to Boholana nurse Midyurri Fleur Ibaya now US- based Mrs. Pinky Damalerio, a very good friend & pageant fan who watched the Presentation Show with her hubby Alan & son, Pia really stood out and had great stage presence.

Her overall performance was also boosted by the thunderous applause & cheers from kababayans who came in droves.

Here now is our very own Pia Wurtzbach during the Prelims where Filipino pageant fans made their presence known with their thunderous applause and cheers everytime Pia takes her turn onstage.

She also unleashed her signature "Stop. Stare. Smile" presentation where she seemed to stop in her tracks, stare at the camera then break out in a winsome smile.
