2013 Bohol Sandugo Says Sayonara

Despite the limited time and dealing with very difficult personalities, the Sandugo Photography Contest was able to push through

Credit of course to our very dynamic Tagbilaran City Mayor Baba Yap with the invaluable assistance of ace photographer Dennis Saco and his posse of tireless lensmen

WHEN ROMY & WYG CAME TO TOWN

It was a privilege to have the presence of two of the country's top photography experts, Canon Ambassador Wyg Tysman and multi- awarded cinematographer Romy Vitug who were invited to judge the said contest

In between running the contest and attending to the competing photographers, Dennis Saco of CIO Photography was able to squeeze in some shoot of his own

Here are some of the stunning visuals that he took during the Sandugo Festival Street Dancing Competition and Grand Parade

In between the frenzied excitement and the heightened anticipation of the thousands of merrymakers who witnessed the spectacle and the pageantry was the reassuring presence of Bohol's elected officials and the key players from the business, tourism and education sectors

SANDUGO SHOW OF SOLIDARITY: Gov. Edgar Chatto & City Mayor Baba Yap

Bohol Gov. Edgar Chatto and Tagbilaran City Mayor Baba Yap's gesture of replicating the Blood Compact between Rajah Sikatuna and Miguel Lopez de Legaspi was symbolic of the unified direction that the two top elected officials of Bohol were goIng to traverse all in the name of Bohol's sustained progress and development

It was a subtle yet powerful message on unity and cooperation of the city government and the provincial leadership

If only for that, the Bohol Sandugo Festival was a success and congratulations to everyone especially to youthful City Mayor Baba Yap for passing his first acid test

Sandugo 2013: Sights & Sounds, Scenes & Stills, Styles & Smiles

Ruben's Sandugo Photo Contest Top Ten shot
It was a warm and bright sunny day that greeted revelers and kibitzers who were keenly anticipating the culmination of the month- long celebration of the Bohol Sandugo Festival last July 28.

The annual Sandugo Street Dancing and Grand Parade would commence at around two in the afternoon.

Almost everyone was jostling for a vantage point along CPG Avenue, the main thoroughfare of the capital city of Tagbilaran, Bohol.

Past twelve noon, CPG Avenue was already teeming with humanity that seemed to materialize from nowhere.

Everyone must have traveled from around Bohol just to witness the grand spectacle of choreographed steps and colorful costumes amidst the cacophony of live instrumentation from drum and bugle corps

From the street exhibition, the participants proceeded to the CPG Sports Complex for the grand finale

For this blog feature, I'm giving way to Ruben Tasic, a registered nurse by profession and a photographer by avocation, who is sharing all the action that took place during last weekend's spectacle as captured through his lenses
