Tagbilaran City PNP Kapwa Ko, Sagot Ko Initiates Project Marcial

There's another side to the PNP or Philippine National Police that the citizenry seldom sees.

Aside from being law enforcers and keepers of the peace, the police force is composed of compassionate and caring men and women who do not hesitate to extend their assistance to those in need and this was highlighted with a recent cooperative venture of the Tagbilaran City Police Station with their "Project Marcial" initiative.

Before & After: Marcial Monde

Named after Marcial Monde, a mentally unstable, single 36 year old male resident of Purok 3, Barangay San Isidro, Tagbilaran City. He used to sell candles at the Cathedral Church but the pandemic and family problems forced him to give it up.

Due to food deprivation and mental & emotional stress, he became mentally unstable.  Recently, Team TCPS spotted him causing public disturbance. “I want to eat, he said” but because he had been wild and throwing stones at the passing vehicles, he needed to be locked up.

Upon knowing the sad plight of Marcial, the compassionate TCPS Chief, PLtCol Mary Crystal B Peralta,   initiated “PROJECT MARCIAL” on February 2021 wherein Team TCPS will build a simple house for Marcial and his elderly relatives and provide provisions for them until he regains his sanity and recovers his physical health.

To achieve the project objectives, Team TCPS coordinated with Tagbilaran LGU, the Barangay Council of San Isidro and other civic- minded donors and volunteers for the endeavor.

Finally, less than a month after the project launching, Team-TCPS led by PLtCol Mary Crystal B Peralta, together with HON. Mayor BABA YAP and FL JANE YAP, founder of Gugma Tagbilaran Foundation and Hon. Fausto Budlong, Brgy Captain of San Isidro, Tagbilaran City turned over the completed housing project to the recipients.

“The Kapwa Ko, Sagot Ko” is a nationwide PNP outreach program which aims to help the less fortunate in the community and those who are adversely affected by the pandemic.

The Kapwa ko, Sagot ko Program of Team-TCPS “Project Marcial” has been successful due to the very active support of the community especially the kind-hearted donors as well as the harmonious and very friendly relationship between the local LGU, the Community and the Police

Because of the project’s success, Team TCPS is seen not only as effective law enforcers who maintains the peace & order in Tagbilran City but as compassionate partners in community building.

They gained a lot of goodwill and positive feedback from the community including voluntary offers of assistance for future community projects.
