Miss CAS 1989 Pageant Photos: Then & Now

At last, a photographic memento of my very first emceeing stint. Thanks to Aida Yana for this photo of the 1989 Miss College of Arts & Science , the official preliminary to the Miss DWCT Personality Search.

Last year, a reunion of sorts happened when four of us in the photo above showed up for an afternoon of reminiscing when Shirmie Cuadra Biloy the 1st RU in the campus pageant came home for a visit. Only Shirmie and Florida "Pol" Acuna, the eventual winner were the only ones from the Top Five who were in the reunion.

Never ever fail to look back and recall where you started and I have Maam Baby Rara for the mentoring in emceeing and Maam Ester Sajulan who pushed me to go out from my comfort zone and who never failed to boost my confidence.

Alona Beach, One of the World's Best Beaches!

It was a quiet and restrained afternoon at Alona Tropical Beach when Your Roving Eye dropped by at the resort’s Baybayon Restaurant. Without a doubt, Alona Tropical Beach Resort has the best beach front in the entire stretch of Alona Beach here in Panglao, Bohol.

Aside from its varied menu and friendly staff, the restaurant gives patrons an unobstructed view of the dazzling white sandy beach in a tropical mile

Bohol's Bet Prepares for National Pageant

 Charysse Jane Roferos: Bohol’s bet
I met our newly- crowned Miss Philippines Earth- Bohol 2016 at the ICM after Palm Sunday Mass and all I can say is wow. If she won’t make the Top 15 in the national finals, then I don’t know what will.

I have a strong feeling that Charysse will figure strongly in the nationals slated on June 12, 2016, RP Independence Day. She is not only gorgeous but also smart, a great combo in pageants especially in Miss Philippines Earth where speaking skills are a must.

I shared with her that she has to believe in herself especially when she goes to Manila and meet the other girls for that would be the moment when she can finally size up the competition.

At any rate, I told her not to be too focused on the competition but to enjoy the experience, make new friends and represent the Loonanons well and make Bohol proud.

Based on previous editions of the pageant, it is the moral and financial support that make the difference. Since she will be leaving for Manila on April 17, it will be a long two- month stay there and that means expenses. Hoping the LGU and the province and some well- meaning private donors can help extend their support for our lovely Miss.

It would be a shame and a pity to see that potential winner go to waste because of lack of support. I’m happy to find out though that Charysse has been extended some help already by Mayor Lopez of Loon. Hope that would be the start.

Who Should Be Mutya sa Tagbilaran 2016? Voting is Now Open!

Most Tagbilaranons would know Saulog is just around the corner when the candidates for the annual search for the city’s fairest are presented to the media. Fifteen lovely & accomplished ladies representing all the city barangays will vie for the 2016 Mutya sa Tagbilaran crown on Sunday, April 24, 8 pm, Bohol Wisdom Gym.

Here are the candidates:

Tagbilaran City First Lady & Pageant Chair Jane Censoria C. Yap stressed that the pageant is aimed at selecting the lady who is deemed the complete package since the pageant is to select a titleholder who personifies Tagbilaran City’s beauty and she has the mission of presenting the city’s beauty, its people, ideals and visions to the rest of the world.

After the Q & A with the media, Your Roving Eye as well as the rest of accredited mediamen cast their votes to determine who would be the Darling of the Press. The results will be revealed on pageant night.
