Miss Bohol Tourism 1977: Antonette Biloy

Antonette during her college days
CERTIFIED CAMPUS CHARMER

Your Roving Eye had the most pleasant surprise of his life last July 21, 2017 during Jun Biloy & Shirmie Cuadra’s wedding when he finally met one of DWCT’s certified campus headturners during the late 70’s, Antonette Biloy.

Antonette happens to be the groom’s older sibling.

For pageant historians and DWCT old- timers, Antonette Biloy represented the then DWCT (Divine Word College- Tagbilaran) now HNU (Holy Name University) in the 1977 Most Beautiful Boholana Pageant.

1977 MISS BOHOL TOURISM

The said beauty title was one of the many appellations that the Miss Bohol pageant adopted during its 91 year history. Antoniette was eventually named the 1977 Miss Bohol- Tourism (equivalent to 1st Runner Up) to Miss Tagbilaran City, Ellen Campbell.

FORTY FABULOUS YEARS

It has been exactly 40 years when she competed in the 1977 edition of Miss Bohol and Antoniette still looks as lovely as the day represented her school in the province- wide pageant.  I was so glad and relieved that she graciously accepted my request for a short interview and a quick photo opp.

She has been based in Manila for quite some time now and has been blessed with three girls and a boy who are all professionals now. A CPA by profession, she was connected with the finance department of a big private company.

She has since then retired from her job and currently enjoys her retirement and her two grandchildren.

Thank Ma’am Tonette for the interview and the photos.

Destiny, Luck & Timing Worked in Favor of Pauline

She was destined to become Miss Bohol. That unforgettable night last July 22, the stars aligned in her favor and won over the stunning Gazini Ganados, one of the most popular girls to ever compete in Miss Bohol pageant history.

Did you know that the newly- crowned Miss Bohol 2017 almost didn’t get the chance to compete in the province’s most prestigious beauty competition? You see, two years ago, competed in Anyag sa Tubigon 2015, her town’s official preliminary pageant for Miss Bohol.

She was raw having no prior pageant experience before the Anyag pageant but she had potential for she was witty and very engaging. The 5'9" half- Belgian beauty eventually finished as 1st RU to Olive Zoilo in Anyag sa Tubigon 2015. Ms. Zoilo who recently passed the CPA board exams was Miss Talent and 3rd RU in last year’s Miss Bohol Pageant.

Pauline & Olive, the last two girls for the Anyag crown await the results
Pauline was convinced by Anyag sa Tubigon pageant organizers and mentors to represent her town this year and she was more than ready having been trained by Tubigon’s formidable team of pageant experts & mentors.

The rest as they say, is pageant history. So girls, never ever think that your journey towards the crown has ended just because you didn't make it the first time. Who knows, Lady Luck might be smiling at you the next time around. Cheers!

Catherine Rem of Bohol Is Doing Well in GMA 7

Talent and patience do prevail in the fickle- minded and competitive Philippine TV & movie industry. Guess who is getting precious primetime TV airtime? Bohol’s very own Cathy Remperas that’s who.

When our very own Cathy Remperas, a former ABS CBN PBB Housemate and who goes by the screen name of Catherine Rem decided to switch from ABS CBN to GMA 7, skeptics declared that it was a wrong career move.
  Charming Catherine Rem captivates televiewers

Cathy is actually doing quite well after she transferred to GMA 7 two years ago. After a cameo appearance in the blockbuster “The Unmarried Wife”, she is now in the cast of “I Heart Davao”, a Philippine Davaoeño-based romantic-comedy drama series broadcast by GMA Network.

  Carla Abellana & Tom Rodriguez
Although the lead stars are Carla Abellana, Tom Rodriguez and Benjamin Alves, Catherine plays the very pivotal & interesting character of “Aileen Ayuban”.
