The Birth of Miss Philippines Earth

HISTORY OF MISS PHILIPPINES EARTH

The Miss Philippines Earth, formally launched in a well- attended press conference on April 3, 2001 and originally called "Miss Philippines" in its early years, is a Filipino national beauty pageant held annually in search of the most beautiful and environmentally-friendly woman in the Philippines.

Miss Philippines Earth whose cause is to have its candidates and winners actively promote and get involved in the preservation of the environment and the protection of Mother Earth, is the largest and most widely participated beauty pageant in the Philippines with 50 official candidates.

Boholana Beauties for a Cause

The reigning titleholders dedicate their year to promote environmental projects and to address issues concerning the environment. They also serve as spokesperson for the Miss Earth Foundation, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other environmental organizations. The grand winner will represent Philippines in Miss Earth pageant.

Ritchel Mutia, the hardworking Marketing guy of Alturas Group of Companies

The Miss Philippines Earth & the Miss Earth pageants are both owned by Philippine- based Carousel Productions.

The beauty pageant's current titleholder is Jamie Herrell who represented Cebu City.

NATIONWIDE IN SCOPE

In 2008, Miss Philippines-Earth broadened its coverage to include candidates from various provinces, cities, and municipalities. The decision to transform Miss Philippines Earth in a larger-scale was made to further the cause of Miss Philippines Earth and with more participants involved, Carousel Productions would be able to reach more people and communities involved in its environmental advocacy.

This year, Bohol will now be officially represented in the national pageant after Island City Mall (ICM) & Alturas Group of Companies have been awarded the official franchise to select Bohol's official bet

Flying in to judge the finals are reigning 2014 Miss Philippines Earth- Water Kimberly Covert & Carousel Productions' Astrud Margareth Schuck, International Fanchise & Branding Manager for Miss Earth

THE IDEAL MISS PHILIPPINES EARTH

With the pageant’s aim of discovering beautiful & brainy young women who can be effective spokespersons for environmental advocacy & eco- tourism thrust, the most likely winner from the provincial level should not only be charming & pretty but also have an engaging personality, excellent communication skills & the sincerity & willingness to carry out the objectives of the contest. Simply put, Bohol’s bet has to be someone who believes in herself and can stand side by side with the rest of the provincial & regional winners during the national finals.

Aside from a series of environment- related activities, another interesting tidbit from the pageant is the three- minute audio- video that focuses on the eco- tourism potential of the hometown/ city where the girl comes from.
