Caste & Lino Jr.'s Doubly Delightful Birthday Bash

The buffet table groaned from the scrumptious dishes that were sure to tickle everyone’s palate. Drinks practically overflowed as Lino Chatto Jr. & Castelar Fortich, two of Bohol’s most affable gentlemen had a joint birthday celebration at the Lotus Hall of Belian Hotel.

Family and friends came in full force to extend their warmest greetings and to share in the celebration which commenced with a thanksgiving mass officiated by Fr. Jingboy Saco.

Among the guests were the Gonzaga siblings Barbara G. Ong, Elizabeth G. Sumodobila, Councilor. Dodong Gonzaga, Gretel Ong, Cris & Mila Bongcac, Macy Aquino, Sylvia Fortich, businessman  Norris Oculam, Councilor Dulce Chatto Glovasa, Pempe Gonzaga, Hon. Odie Glovasa & wife Majoy Torralba.

Also seen were Dr. Aning Tan, Lea Tan, KC Tan, Jean Gonzales, the Rachos of Balilihan, Betty Chatto, Lorna Varquez Olario, Jun Silva, MInda Kennedy, Flor Maslog, Inday & Liux Corrales

Live musical entertainment from the enduring and talented Arthur Ungab made the affair more memorable and nostalgic. Dancing was interspersed with delightful song numbers from some of the vocally- talented guests.

It was indeed double the intensity, the fun and the excitement as the two celebrants mingled endlessly to make sure everyone had a great time.

Stylish Maia Dizon in her Sensational Bessie Besana Gown

During the 2016 Sun Life Grepa National Awards Night, my good friend Maia Palapos- Dizon clinched not only  the 2016 Sun Life Financial Presidential Award & 2016 Sun Life Grepa Financial Regular Business Award, she also got the nod of fashion stylists & fashionistas for her sartorial sense and got voted Star of the Night.

Fast- rising Manila- based designer Bessie Besana, who also dresses up Miss World 2013 Megan Young and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach created the winning look for Ms. Dizon..Incidentally, Bessie was in Bohol a couple of years back together with his muses Shamcey Supsup & Ariella Arida to judge the Miss Panglao Pageant.

According to Bessie Besana, top Manila fashion designer who created Maia’s gown 

“When Maia Dizon came into my shop, I was instantly inspired by her physique. She told me she maintains her body by going to the gym and making sure she takes care of her well being.  She also said that she will be attending a red carpet awards night. I found out later that she was a recipient of a recognition. I then formulated in my mind that what I wanted for her was nothing too extravagant yet it exudes class and elegance.

We chose the colour pistachio green for her gown in gazar fabric. To give it that modern look, we made it high neck and very low back. To add an additional drama, we attached a train to the sleek serpentine gown to give that red carpet worthy look. Not surprisingly, she won star of the night! 

The award proved that it takes two to tango; You need a go- getter and risk- taker for a muse and you need a sartorial masterpiece to make heads turn and make a splash on the red carpet!

BOHOL MEDIA ICON BIDS ADIEU

On a somber note, we bid adieu to Sir Loreto "Loy" Monceda Palapos who returned to Our Creator on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2015 at The Medical City, Ortigas due to complications from diabetes. 

He is survived by wife Maria Guadalupe “Marie” Borja Estoque, his three  daughters & their respective spouses: Maia & Dodo Dizon, Rima & Alhirt Llubit  and Maida & Nino Jamir and grand children.

He was larger than life and committed himself to dedicated community service. More than the passion for public service & community involvement, he was known to have the eloquence of Demosthenes, the artistic influence of the playwright Aristophanes and the showmanship & bravura of Thespis.

As Fiel Angeli Gabin would like to say” Certainly, Sir Loy's a man like no other - gifted with remarkable talent, creativity and eloquence - truly an "alagad ng sining".... Requiescat in pace.”

To say that he would be missed in Bohol's business and arts & culture scene would be an understatement.

His greatest legacy is the founding of the Bohol Tri- Media Association (BTMA) coining the term Sandugo which we have come to commemorate history & celebrate friendship every July and of course, naming the annual fiesta festivities in Panglao as "Hudyaka sa Panglao".
