Stylish Maia Dizon in her Sensational Bessie Besana Gown

During the 2016 Sun Life Grepa National Awards Night, my good friend Maia Palapos- Dizon clinched not only  the 2016 Sun Life Financial Presidential Award & 2016 Sun Life Grepa Financial Regular Business Award, she also got the nod of fashion stylists & fashionistas for her sartorial sense and got voted Star of the Night.

Fast- rising Manila- based designer Bessie Besana, who also dresses up Miss World 2013 Megan Young and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach created the winning look for Ms. Dizon..Incidentally, Bessie was in Bohol a couple of years back together with his muses Shamcey Supsup & Ariella Arida to judge the Miss Panglao Pageant.

“When Maia Dizon came into my shop, I was instantly inspired by her physique. She told me she maintains her body by going to the gym and making sure she takes care of her well being.  She also said that she will be attending a red carpet awards night. I found out later that she was a recipient of a recognition. I then formulated in my mind that what I wanted for her was nothing too extravagant yet it exudes class and elegance.

We chose the colour pistachio green for her gown in gazar fabric. To give it that modern look, we made it high neck and very low back. To add an additional drama, we attached a train to the sleek serpentine gown to give that red carpet worthy look. Not surprisingly, she won star of the night! 

The award proved that it takes two to tango; You need a go- getter and risk- taker for a muse and you need a sartorial masterpiece to make heads turn and make a splash on the red carpet!

It was just like college years all over again when the svelte & smart Maia Palapos- Dizon & hubby Atty. Dodo Dizon breezed into town a few days back. What was supposed to be a private & quiet affair meant to mark the 40^th day since Sir Loy Palapos had returned to his Maker instead became an occasion to celebrate!

You see, Maia’s birthday coincided with her Bohol trip. The nurse turned banker who juggles her time between family life as mom to Martin (11) & Mita & wife to Atty Dodo Dizon and as Boni Avenue Business Center Manager then knew that it was a sign that Papa Loy wanted her to celebrate & reward life’s achievements & milestones especially after she was recognized by RCBC as the 2014 Most Outstanding Business Manager of the Year & as the RCBC Elte Circle Awardee for 2014 during the RCBC 2014 CEO’s Annual Awards.

When word got around that Maia was in town, high school & college classmates & buddies including Your Roving Eye trooped to the MetroCentre Hotel not only to recall & reminisce their yesteryears but also to remember Sir Loy and most of all, to recognize the  achievements of the birthday girl

The very youthful- looking Maia who has retained her campus headturner looks sure has it all & is the epitome of the contemporary Boholana. 

WHEN IT RAINS, IT POURS

After flying back to Manila last Thursday, it was practically straight to the Solaire Resort & Casino from the airport to attend the 2014 Sun Life Grepa Annual Awards where she was to receive the Sun Life Grepa Presidential Awardee. 

I'm sure that from where he is ensconsed up above, Sir Loi surely would be beaming with pride on his eldest child. Cheers!
