2006 Miss Bohol Intl Highlights

TBTK 2006 HIGHLIGHT:

Fourteen beauty delegates of Boholano lineage from all over the country and from around the world who were competing for the prestigious beauty title started arriving on the weekend leading to Coronation Night

After the registration, fittings and briefing, they immediately plunged into a hectic but exciting schedule of activities that were crammed in one week.

The pre- pageant events included the Grand TBTK 2006 Parade, Poolside Swimsuit Presentation @ Panglao Island Nature Resort, Talent Night @ Bohol Tropics Resort, courtesy calls, BCCTV appearance, FM radio tour & rigid rehearsals for the pageant night

Maya Calope Galvan, the reigning Miss Bohol International who won in 2003,  was a stunning beauty of Mexican and Filipino lineage. Miss Galvan represented the Tagbilaranons of Northern California (TANOCAL)

First to be interviewed is Loida Lagonoy
PERSONAL INTERVIEWS:

The girls then had a brief chit chat with the emcee before giving their impressions on a picture flashed on the wide screen. Of course, the girls who grew up in the U.S. and Canada had the upper hand in this segment.

Two ladies stood out in this segment. First on my list would be Judith Galang who was very engaging, candid and relaxed during the entire interview.

Judith Galang of Paramus, New Jersey
During the "Describe the Picture on the Wide Screen segment" Judith, who traces her roots to Carmen, Bohol beamed when images of Bohol's iconic tourist attraction, the Chocolate Hills, were shown on the screen.

By the way, I committed a gaffe when I introduced her as Judith Chatto! I almost wilted in embarrassment when she ribbed me about it onstage but she put me at ease immediately for she said it in a truly gracious and light- hearted manner

She gave a very touching one- liner on tracing one's roots and punctuated it with the perfect example: her dad who's from Carmen, the area where most of the Chocolate Hills can be found!

The other girl would be Gayle Marielle Pizarras Ramirez who represented the Tagbilaranons of Toronto, Canada. Who can forget her giggle when she found out that Jerome Sala was in the audience?

Thirty years later, another Boholana, Rich Asuncion, equalled Perla's feat when she also  placed as 1st RU in the 2009 edition of the Bb. Pilipinas Pageant.

Another Boholana beauty Taina Manigque, a member of the exclusive Triumph Court of Fashion, was a Top Fifteen Finalist and Miss Lux Awardee in the 1985 edition of the pageant
