Boholana Beauty in Miss Philippines Earth 2016

Hers was a last- minute decision to participate in the ongoing 2016 Miss Philippines Earth Pageant. 

Meet Genina Marcelo Abrau, the Boholana who is wearing the sash of San Miguel, Bohol in the 16th annual edition of the search for the country’s environmental advocate.

She emerged as 1st Runner Up to Gayle Suzette Yu in the inaugural search for Miss Philippines Earth- Bohol last year. 

The 21 year old BS Computer Engineering graduate from BISU thought that was the last of her stints in pageantry but she was wrong. 

Genina got the shock of her life when she received a call from the Bohol franchise holders that she was picked by the committee to represent Bohol this year after the winner Charysse Roferos withdrew from the competition .

She described the pre-pageant activities as hectic but enjoyable & totally different experiences. 

She has bonded well with the 45 other candidates from all over the country & from overseas assignments.

Looks like Loon's bid to have its first national beauty pageant titleholder will have to be on hold.  

Alturas Group of Companies, the Miss Philippines Earth Bohol franchise holder announced that Genina Marcelo Abrau who hails from the municipality of San Miguel, Bohol will now be Bohol’s official representative to the 2016 Miss Philippines Earth  national finals slated on June 12 after Charysse Jane Camilotes Roferos backed out from the competition due to some personal reasons.

Genina, a 5’ 6” morena beauty who is a sought- after RMAB model and a campus headturner of Bohol Island State University- Main Campus where she recently finished her bachelor’s degree finished as 1^st RU to Gayle Suzette Yu in last year’s inaugural search for Bohol’s bet to the search for the country’s Earth Warriots & spokespersons for environmental protection.

I met our newly- crowned Miss Philippines Earth- Bohol 2016 at the ICM after Palm Sunday Mass and all I can say is wow. If she won’t make the Top 15 in the national finals, then I don’t know what will.

I have a strong feeling that Charysse will figure strongly in the nationals slated on June 12, 2016, RP Independence Day. She is not only gorgeous but also smart, a great combo in pageants especially in Miss Philippines Earth where speaking skills are a must.

I shared with her that she has to believe in herself especially when she goes to Manila and meet the other girls for that would be the moment when she can finally size up the competition. 

At any rate, I told her not to be too focused on the competition but to enjoy the experience, make new friends and represent the Loonanons well and make Bohol proud.

Based on previous editions of the pageant, it is the moral and financial support that make the difference. Since she will be leaving for Manila on April 17, it will be a long two- month stay there and that means expenses. Hoping the LGU and the province and some well- meaning private donors can help extend their support for our lovely Miss.

It would be a shame and a pity to see that potential winner go to waste because of lack of support. I’m happy to find out though that Charysse has been extended some help already by Mayor Lopez of Loon. Hope that would be the start.

Loon is the Big Winner in Miss Philippines Earth Bohol 2016

Last year, it was Calape's Gayle Suzette Yu who was crowned the winner in the inaugural search for Bohol's official candidate in the Miss Philippines Earth Pageant. 

This year it's the neighboring town of Loon who shone the brightest and deemed the big winner in Miss Philippines Earth Bohol 2015 Pageant held a few hours ago at the Island City Mall Activity Center with 18 year old Charysse Jane Roferos, a BS Nursing student at Cebu Normal University, living up to her tag as Candidate # 1. 

The BS Nursing student from Cebu Normal University student indeed finished Numero Uno and earned the right to represent her town & Bohol at the national finals of Miss Philippines Earth 2016 on June 12.  

She will now have three months to prep up for the biggest challenge of her life!

Loon's dynamic duo were also the standouts in the beauty & poise segment of the pageant with Bretziel Laurel as Best in Swimsuit and Charysse as Best in Evening Gown.

Lady Arlia was also named Miss Talent and Rizalee was selected as Best in Interview and Best Eco Video
