Blue Grass Project Wins Again in International Floral Show

And a homegrown Boholano artist does it again in the global arena!

Joseph Ven Garay Dumadag receives his award from FDSS President Damien Koh Pfci Aifd and Singapore Senior Minister of State Simm Ann

Blue Grass Project’s Joseph Ven Garay Dumadag recently won for the Philippines the Best Creative Design Award, Professional Category, at the prestigious 12th International FDSS Floral Design Competition held in Singapore.

Award-winning entry

His prize-winning entry, "Metal” was an homage and testament to the grace, resilience and strength of metal which is forged to last several lifetimes. The wonderful thing about metal is it only gets more beautiful and interesting as it ages and matures over the years. It takes up to 500 years for metal to crumble into dust and blend into the atmosphere.

Most recent award

During the same floral competition that gathered some of the world's top florists,  stylists and the movers &  shakers of the floral industry, Mr. Dumadag further enthused that his entry is a floral celebration of metal.

Blue Grass Project, the Bohol-based creative collaboration of Joseph Ven Dumadag and Michael Yu and one of the country's top event stylists is no stranger to making a splash in international exhibits and competitions.

PREVIOUS INTL AWARDS

A few years back, Blue Grass Project won for the Philippines the Best in Design Concept and Composition Award at the 1st World Orchid Association International Floral Skills Category,  Buddha Flower Show held in Kuala Lumpur,  Malaysia, the Bronze Medal at the Japan International Flower Show, Gold Prize at the Putrajaya Body Flower Competition, Best Table Decor at the Sanya International Flower Festival in Hainan, among others.

The seasoned duo has been featured in almost 30 international floristry events in 10 years. In October this year, they are bringing to Bohol a dozen international florists to do workshops, demos and floral installations in South Palms Panglao, South Farm, North Zen Villas and Modala Beach Resort.

Congratulations Farrahlynn B. Bonocan

Congratulations to my US- based Boholano friends Ken & Naomi Joy Maree Bonocan for the good news!

Farrahlynn B. Bonocan, BSN, RN

Their beauty &  brains daughter, Farrahlynn B. Bonocan, BSN, RN is now officially an NCLEX passer.

She finished her Bachelor of Nursing degree with a minor in Integrative Health and Wellness from the University of Portland, School of Nursing.

But it's not all academics for Farrah. In between school work,  she finds time to dabble in her passion for singing and attending her karate training where she is a certified black belt. She also enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, and checking out the new food offerings in town.

Fresh from her successful passing of the NCLEX, and barely a month from her hospital job as a registered nurse,  she already has her short- term goals; that of finishing her RN residency in Oregon as a Med-Sur nurse and then transfer over to Labor and Delivery.

Her long - term goal is to go back to school to get her Masters in Nursing and be a nurse practitioner someday.
