LEO & NENITA : A story worth retelling |
Looking dapper and debonaire in his coat & tie,the groom had this disarming boyish charm that put everyone at ease.
The rapturous laughter, the delightful squeals & thunderous laughs in between the waiting time for the church wedding to commence easily set the mood for the rest of the day’s activities especially during the wedding reception.
The paths of Nenita Buyo of Alicia,
Bohol and Leo Salubre first crossed in the mid 80’s when they were introduced
to each other by mutual friends. Although there were hints of sparks, nothing
came out from that first casual meeting. Both were committed to significant
others. He was based in Balamban, Cebu and she was in the United States.
Fast forward to 2009. The guy who had
become a widower by that time remembered the vivacious & bubbly Boholana that
he was introduced to years ago. He wanted to find out how she was doing and how
she was after all the years that have gone by since their first meeting. Most
importantly, he wanted to find out if she still remembered him. He began to
look her up in Google and eventually found her in Facebook.
After some exchanges of missives, they
realized that they were falling for each other. They eventually met up in September 2009
and three months later, got married under civil rites with no less than Balamban Mayor & now
Cebu Provl Board Member Alex Binghay & wife Rosie backing them up all the
way. Talk about a whirlwind romance. Plans were now afoot for a Bohol church
wedding in 2013 but a devastating temblor dashed all their preparations
CHARMING & CLASSY CHURCH WEDDING
Undeterred, they had to go back to the
planning board to make sure that everything would turn out right. On November 8 last year, the
beautiful and endearing love story of Nenita Buyo & Leo Salubre that spanned three decades culminated
with a romantic exchange of lifetime
vows at the St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral in Tagbilaran City, Bohol and witnessed by swooning friends & families of the couple including the bride's Holy Spirit School Class 1976
BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL BELLEVUE
The Bellevue Pavillion in Panglao, where an unforgettable wedding reception followed was transformed into a wonderland where red red roses where abloom and in profusion.
Presently, Nenita Salubre is connected
with Blythedale Children's Hospital in Valhalla, New York and has been calling Haverstraw,
New York her home for many many years already. Leo is doing well as a
contractor in Cebu.
The love story that
has defied time and distance is now a transatlantic affair with scheduled visits
every year.
Cheers to Nenita & Leo!
