Thoughts on the Miss Dauis 2014 Pageant

Eighteen year Judy Ann Cimafranca of Mayacabac confirmed her frontrunner status when she edged out 17 year old Sherry Anne Ciruela of Totolan and Shiela Palacat of Songculan in the final round of the Miss Dauis 2014 Pageant, one of the highlights for the town’s fiesta celebration.

All three girls were in my list of probable finalists.

Bolstered by previous pageant experiences, the reigning Miss Teen Bohol was a display of elegance and perfection as she dominated the stage the moment she came out in the Opening Number & Introduction of Candidates.

 Miss Dauis is Miss Mayacabac

The 12 candidates who represented the different barangays of Dauis competed in the Victoria Secret- inspired Shorts Competition, Evening Gown Competition & Onstage Interviews. Their Talent Competition scores were then added to determine the Top Three Finalists.

FINAL QUESTION

The three finalists were then asked the same final question asked by Ms. Yap:
If your Local Government Unit will entrust with a long- term project for your barangay, what will it be and why?
The eventual winner from Mayacabac responded with Dauisanaon empowerment and elaborated on her reply. Miss Songculan replied with tourism and Miss Totolan answered with building a multi- purpose mini- library because she values education & knowledge

AWARDS & PRIZES

L-R: 2nd RU, Miss Songculan, Miss Dauis is Miss Mayacabac, 1st RU Ms Totolan
Ms. Cimafranca won P22,000 plus the big responsibility of making it a back- to- back for the town in the Miss Bohol Pageant next year.

Aside from the crown, she also won  the Best in Interview, Best in Gown & Darling of the Crowd special awards.

THE RUNNERS UP
Showing the most potential that night was Candidate # 2 Sherry Anne Ciruela of Totolan who eventually finished as the 1st RU. I found out that it was her first pageant ever and it showed.

She even had a near- disaster during the Shorts Competition when the huge wings she wore got snagged at the wirings near the stage entrance. To her credit, she was able to take control of the situation and continued to strut and strike a pose on center stage as if nothing was amiss.

The judges saw beyond the poses and went for physical beauty, figure & flawless skin in the Shorts Competition & you just can't deny that Miss Totolan stood out in the segment with her long legs, flawless skin and charming beauty.

She also won the Miss Flawless, Miss Aldea Photogenic & Best in Shorts special awards.

1st RU is Cherry Ciruela of Totolan
My other favorite candidate who placed as 2nd RU was Shiela Palacat of Songculan. Her years of training in dancing gave her the evident confidence and stage presence. She also had one of the most radiant smiles from the girls onstage. She also won Miss Talent & Best in Prod. Number.

L-R: Miss Bohol 2000 Mellanie Wallace, 2nd RU Miss Songculan
& Dauis ABC Pres. Hon. Josever Sumaylo
The other girls who got my attention were # 5 Miss Poblacion, # 10 Miss Tinago & #11 Miss Mariveles.

THE JUDGES: Composing the Board of Judges were Miss Bohol Sandugo 2012 Idy Casenas Cagas, Miss Bohol Sandugo 2000 Mellanie Wallace who took time off from running the family business, The Buzz & Bohol Bee Farm, Atty. Lord Marapao, top Boholano designer EJ Relampagos & Tagbilaran City First Lady Jane Censoria C. Yap who chaired the panel.

Hosting the pageant were Sir. Julius Ranises and newly- crowned Miss Bohol 2014 Queenie Melody Fullante of Dauis.

Talented Clyde Ebojo of Dauis and now Anda- based Municipal LGOO serenaded the girls.

HARDWORKING MAYOR

Kudos to Dauis Mayor Marietta Sumaylo & the rest of the organizing team for the very successful & trouble- free staging of the pageant. It was a jampacked evening and after the show, the tireless & charming Mayor Sumaylo still obliged me with a photo opportunity

I saw for myself how Mayor Sumaylo and her hubby Hon. Josever Sumaylo had been busy showing up for rehearsals and attending to the needs of the staff and candidates in between running the affairs of the town. I am now a fan of Mayor Sumaylo
