Mary Abigail Besas is Crowned the First Matahum sa Ubay!

It was a most glittering beauty pageant that had people in Ubay and neighboring towns talking about it for days. 

A clear vindication for the newly- formed Performing Artists of Ubay (PAU) who were met with skepticism when they announced their intent to stage a pageant that would showcase not only the beauty & achievements of Ubaynon women but also the grace and artistry of outstanding Ubaynons in the creative, visual and performing artists.

 TOP THREE WINNERS IN SWIMWEAR

Mary Abigail Besas, an 18 year old Architecture student from De La Salle University bested a bevy of twelve ladies and was named Matahum sa Ubay 2017. Miss Besas, who will be the town’s official bet for Miss Bohol 2017, was also named Best in Gown, Best in Interview and Miss Talent.

The first ever winner of Matahum sa Ubay had no prior pageant experience but she wowed the judges and the crowd with her class & elegance, her spontaneity and her impressive credentials. She is definitely one of the girls to watch out for in the Miss Bohol Pageant this July.

THE RUNNERS UP

Rounding out her court were 1^st Runner Up & Karen Lynn Atuel, a Medical Technology intern at Cebu Doctors University. Ms. Atuel was also named Miss Photogenic and Best in Swimsuit.  2^nd Runner Up & Best in Production Number was Chona Autor, 3^rd Runner Up was Hanna Clarisse Gonzales and 4^th RU was Claire Hibaya.

A child’s baptism is always a reason to rejoice among Catholic families. For Congressman Erico Aris Aumentado and former Miss Bohol Vanessa Cadorna- Aumentado, parents of Baby Liam, their third and youngest child’s christening at the Birhen sang Barangay Shrine in Cogon District this city was a cause for celebration.

Belated  happy birthday to my good friend Ms. Vanessa Cadorna- Aumentado who turned a year older but wiser last May 21. 

Almost everyone knows that the lovely Vanessa is the spouse of Congressman Aris Aumentado & the mom of Lawrence & Lance but only a few know that she once reigned as Miss Bohol Sandugo 2001, a title she assumed being next in line after the original winner wasn’t able to finish her reign.

She later met her future in- laws during the 2002 Miss Bohol Sandugo Pageant when she crowned the new queen together with the late Gov. Erico Aumentado & former First Lady Greenie Aumentado.

To Vanessa, Long May You Reign! Cheers!

Spongecola: Rocking & Rebuilding in Bohol

Hundreds died, thousands were injured and infrastructure worth millions crumbled down when Bohol was jolted by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake last October 13, 2014. 

More than the loss of lives and properties, it was the destruction and the damage wrought on our centuries- old churches that really broke the hearts of Boholanos. 

They were more than just symbols of our faith. They were part of our lives and until now, a sense of collective loss is still being felt by many

This is where Congressman Aris Aumentado, the youthful and dynamic 2^nd District Representative of Bohol, came into the rescue. 

Through a benefit concert series that he initiated & supported, he has been able to successfully raise donations to help rebuild some of the damaged churches from the Diocese of Talibon.

Dubbed Rock & Rebuild, the concert series was launched last May 23 with Spongecola, topbilling the event that was staged in Talibon, Bohol with K & N Productions of LJ Lumayag handling the event.

It was a memorable gig mainly because it was my first time to handle a concert’s directorial job
