Here’s more good news for Boholano pageant enthusiasts. Aside from Candy Cumayas of Panglao Island, we also have Dorina Loseñada Doerr, a delightful combination of the East & West who got the best genes from her German dad Klaus Doerr and her Tagbilaran City- born mother Evelyn Loseñada

The 20 year old stunner who stands 5’ 6” tall is representing the Filipino community of Germany where she was born and raised.

To learn more about the culture & life where her mom comes from, she packed her bags & flew in from Heidelberg, Germany and studied at Holy Name University in Tagbilaran City, Bohol when she was in 3^rd year high school.

She is currently staying in Cebu City and has volunteered for a social project for almost a year now. She goes to Bohol regularly to visit her relatives

Here’s my interview with Dorina:

What are your expectations from the upcoming pageant?

“I think we will have exciting but also exhausting weeks. It will be fun but also hard work at the same time. It’s a unique experience in my opinion, which I am already thankful for”

How are you preparing for the pageant?

“Training on walking, Q&A, of course taking care of myself inside and outside, going to the gym”

Who is your pageant mentor?

“Dexter Alazas”

“If ever it’s my destiny to win or place in the pageant, I hope to inspire people especially my fellow Boholanos. Winning would also mean being able to support more charity projects aside from the one that I am actively volunteering for right now.

You see, I have always believed that we have to give more of ourselves to those who have less”

Reigning Miss Universe to Crown Bb Pilipinas 2014

MANILA, Philippines - BREAKING NEWS: 2013 Miss Universe Gabriela Isler of Venezuela will crown the new Bb. Pilipinas-Universe who will be chosen during the 2014 (51st) Bb. Pilipinas Pageant on March 30 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

This was revealed Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta, head of the Bb. Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI).

FOUR BB. PILIPINAS CROWNS AT STAKE

Forty ladies have been selected as official candidates from over a hundred applicants. 

They will compete for four titles: 

L-R: Pia, Cindy, Ara, Bea & Mutya

Bb. Pilipinas-Universe currently held by Ariella Arida who placed third runner-up in the 2013 Miss Universe contest (who will do the honors with Isler)

THREE WORLD- CLASS BEAUTIES

Since two of the four reigning Bb Pilipinas 2013 queens won their respective international pageants, this would only mean that there would be three international beauty titleholders present during the 2014 Bb Pilipinas Grand Coronation Night

Now that would one great reason why March 30 would be the most beautiful evening on television this year

This is not the first time that a reigning Miss Universe will be crowning a Bb Pilipinas queen. 

The first time was during the 1977 Bb Pilipinas when Anna Lorraine Kier, our Bb for that year's Miss Universe was crowned by the Miss 1976 Miss Universe Rina Messinger of Israel

And here now is my solid frontrunner for the 2014 Bb. Pilipinas- Universe crown. She exudes sophistication, freshness & youth with a subtle hint of sassiness & cattiness

She was even pegged by a US- based pageant website as the Asian version of Olivia Culpo  

Her impressive academic credentials can’t be ignored either. She graduated with a BS Accountancy degree Cum Laude and is a Certified Public Accountant

Will Yvethe Marie Santiago’s fiery & sexy Bicolana roots tempered with a sweet and winsome image be more than enough to give her a Binibini crown?

Crown Favorites for 2014 Bb Pilipinas Pageant

The Standouts. The Frontrunners. The Girls to Beat

They are the girls who caught my attention when I was going over their first official photos from Bb. Pilipinas Charities. Choosing them was very easy. All I did was pick out the girls who won me over after my initial scrutiny. In other words, they are the ones who commanded the most attention for the right reasons.

Here are my first two girls:

  Parul Shah

DUSKY. DREAMY & DARING 

Sultry. Smoldering. Scintillating. These are the apt words to describe this girl who goes by the exotic sounding name of Parul Shah.

This BS Nursing degree holder from Baguio City was one of the heavy favorites during last year’s Bb. Pilipinas Pageant but only ended up as one of the 15 semifinalists

When Parul’s  sexier & fiercer version of herself  surfaced during the Bb Pilipinas 2014 series of screenings and callbacks, she was catapulted to the list of of The Girls To Beat

Will last year’s pageant experience, the long preparation & coaching from the Kagandahang Flores camp clinch for her one of the three crowns at stake?

PEDIGREE, PERSONALITY & PORTUGUESE

Mary Jane Bianca Guidotti literally and figuratively towers over most of this year’s candidates.

Her stratospheric & statuesque height of 5’ 10” plus her legs that go on for miles make her a formidable competitor.

This 20 something Ateneo de Manila University graduate has the social pedigree and the air of a well- traveled cosmopolitan lady as well.

Her years of stay in Brazil plus her facility with the Portuguese language would definitely be a big advantage if she will be picked to represent the Philippines in the 2014 Miss Universe Pageant to be held in Brazil.

Remember Miss Portugal and Miss Angola Leila Lopes? Together with Miss Brazil, both of the Portuguese- speaking ladies made the Top Ten back in 2011 with Leila eventually winning the crown when the pageant was held in Sao Paolo, Brazil

What she needs to improve on is consistency with her styling and the need to project a more youthful vibe

My Early Picks for 2014 Bb. Pilipinas

You can tell that summer is just around the corner when publicity stills of the next crop of Binibining Pilipinas hopefuls are splashed all over the newspapers, featured in online websites and merits a mention in the gets primetime TV news programs
