Vote Eva & Kim Into the Round of Eight

IT'S DO- OR- DIE TONIGHT

It’s going to be a Do- or- Die Duel for Boholanos Kim Mainit and Eva De Los Santos as the Voice of the Philippines quest for the best-ever winner in the country continues on Sunday, September 15

Kim and Eva are two of the remaining eight singers who will slug it out for the last four spots

Eva is the homegrown talent from Jagna who despite having settled in Cebu City after her marriage to David De Los Santos has never forgotten her Boholano roots

Kim Mainit, on the other hand, is the bubbly teenager who dreams of musical stardom

They have survived the long and arduous journey and tonight is the night as they await the ultimate judgement

RECAP

From more than a thousand who auditioned for the premiere season of ABS CBN’s The Voice of the Philippines, 52 hurdled the series of eliminations that culminated with the televised Blind Auditions

After the dust had settled down, the 52 were whittled down to the Top 24

During the August 25 and September 1 Live Shows held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila, televiewers and the live show audience were given the power to determine the Top Eight Qualifiers through text votes

The remaining eight who made the next round were picked by the coaches from the bottom 16

Last week, The first half of the Top 16 slugged it out for the Head- to- Head Single Knock out Eliminations.

Two artists from the respective teams of Apl de Ap, Sarah G, Lea and Bamboo faced off. This time, the viewing public and the coaches had the equal say, with the combined percentages of the public votes and the coaches’ scores determining who among them will remain in the competition.

This week, Boholanos will find out if our paisanos Kim Mainit and Eva De Los Santos will continue with their journey to musical stardom

Admittedly, it’s going to be a tough battle for the two aspirants as each has been paired with formidable opponents

KIM VERSUS RADHA

Kim will face off with Radha Cuadrado  more popularly known as Radha, a Filipino singer and songwriter. She is the granddaughter of the legendary Filipino actress Lolita Rodriguez. She was an original member of the rap group Boom which later turned into a trio named Kulay.

After leaving Kulay, she pursued a solo career and performed in theater and lounge shows. She had several stints on television and stage but her big break came at the age of fifteen when she joined as lead singer of the internationally acclaimed group Kulay, which won countless awards in the Philippines and went on an international tour all over the UK, Germany, Italy, and Denmark which put them on the dance charts in local UK radio and Billboard.

In 1999 Pepsi Philippines launched their ad campaign called "Ask for more" and chose Kulay to be their endorsers.

EVA VERSUS KLARISSE

It will be a Battle of the Divas as Eva try to outlast Klarissede Guzman, co- finalist of Sarah in 'Star for a Night' Sarah was tagged 'Popstar Princess' due to that show.

FOUR CHAIR TURNERS

Klarisse de Guzman is among the 4-chair turners of the Blind Auditions including Thor Dulay (Team Apl), Michaellen Temporada(Team Sarah), Don Michael Perez(Team Bamboo), Juvie Pelos (Team Lea) and Janice Javier(Team Apl).

It will be an uphill climb for both but our collective votes can help propel them into the Round of Eight

This is where our Boholano Text- Vote Power Will Come In!

If we were able to help Jerome Sala of Pilar, Bohol clinch the Star in a Million singing competition, then anything is possible for both Eva & Kim

Help Eva & Kim realize their dreams in The Voice of The Philippines tonight!

Support Eva Santos in The Voice Live Show

EVA IN THE LIVE SHOW ON AUG 25

Our very own Eva Santos will battle it out this Saturday, August 25 during the 1st Live Show episode to stay in contention for ABS CBN's The Voice of the Philippines competition

Your prayers and TEXT votes will spell the difference

TRUE- BLUE BOHOLANA

Eva whose maiden name is Eva Gulle was born and raised in Tejero, Jagna, Bohol.

Her grade school years were spent at Jagna Central Elementary School.

She graduated as High School Class Salutatorian at the Colegio de la Medalla Milagrosa.

At around this time, Eva had acquired a local celebrity tag in her hometown after winning the nationwide Girl Scout of the Philippines Singing Contest

FROM BOHOL OR FROM CEBU? WHICH IS WHICH?

Eva & Daughter Monique interviewed by TV host Robi Domingo

Eva's roots especially where she is from has been the subject of speculation and discussion among blog readers especially when she is introduced to TV and studio audiences as Eva Santos from Cebu

To set the record straight, Eva is from Bohol.

Contrary to what some has said who has seen her on TV, she has never denied that she is from Bohol and in fact, during the series of eliminations, she always introduces herself as from Bohol but presently residing in Cebu City.

Eva Santos has been based in Cebu City since the 80's but she always visits Bohol especially during fiesta time in Jagna every September

I believe this is part of the marketing strategy of ABS CBN to introduce Eva as from Cebu since Bohol already has Kim Mainit

Rest assured that Eva Santos is, was and would always be Boholana.

IMPRESSIVE BIO

Eva has been consistently wowing everyone ever since she started singing onstage. After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Education with Cum Laude honors from Cebu Normal University, she taught for four years.

First, at the Sacred Heart School for Boys then to Cebu International School

WORLD- CLASS PERFORMER

The high point of her singing career was having her original composition "You & Me" being selected as the Philippines' official entry to the 1992 Midnight Sun International Song Festival held annually in Lahti, Finland

She sang her own composition during the international songfest and before the night was over, she was declared 2nd Runner Up from among scores of representatives from around the world

MARITAL BLISS OVER STARDOM

during the Battle Round

She could have parlayed that victory into a lucrative singing career in the entertainment industry especially with the offers that awaited her when she returned home from Finland

She opted to turn her back from the music industry when she decided to devote her full- time to being a wife and mother

REASONS FOR JOINING

Now that the kids have grown up, Eva is itching to make a comeback in the entertainment scene not so much for the accolades or the fame for she has loads of that already.

It's more of the artist and the performer in her . Music has always been her passion

But for this blogger, it's more than the passion and artistry in her. Eva Santos stands as an inspiration for everyone. That nothing is impossible in the pursuit of your goals and your dreams regardless of one's age and station in life

Making the Top 24 is an achievement already.

Let's help Eva make history for Bohol in the Voice of the Philippines

Way to go Eva!

Kim Mainit of Bohol Battles It Out In The Voice

Kim Mainit
BOHOLANO VOICES

We have not one but two Boholanos in the ongoing Voice of the Philippines talent search telecast over ABS CBN's Channel 2 every weekend

Both are as different as Night and Day.

One is an established quintessential diva who put her promising singing career on hold in order to be a full- time mom and wife.

The other is a bubbly teener whose sunny disposition never fails to brighten even the most gloomy days

VOICE # 1 KIM MAINIT

First to be featured is Kim Mainit. Kimpoy to his friends and family, Kim graduated from HNU Grade School before enrolling at Holy Spirit School for his secondary education.

Sixteen year old Kim was all set to proceed to college after his high graduation last summer but all that has changed for the meantime when he qualified for the Voice of the Philippines

He is the son of Nilo & Eleuteria Mainit who traces his roots in Anda, Bohol

During his brief visit to Bohol after the intense Blind Auditions and Battle Rounds, he paid a visit to his family in Anda

BLIND AUDITIONS

The original Kim herself, Ms Lea Salonga, was the first AND only coach to turn around for Kim but that was more than enough considering who Lea is. Kim ended up being the 13th and last to make it to Team Lea

Overall, the coaches were all praises for this Boholano sensation

Kim Mainit sang “Nobody's Perfect” song by Jessie J on the Blind Audition Episode 12 Sunday, July 21, 2013.

BATTLE ROUNDS

For the Battle Round, Team Lea's Kimpoy had to face off with teammate Taw Mohammad of Iloilo as they showcased their vocal prowess with a slow arrangement of the dance hit “Without You” by David Guetta and Usher.

It was a tough moment for Coach Lea who had to agonize over her final choice

In the end, she Coach Lea picked Kim even as she qualified that her decision ultimately was based on WHAT the competition was looking for AND for the INSPIRATION that he would provide

Bohol's Eva Santos & Kim Mainit Makes The Top 24 of The Voice

By now, almost everyone knows that two Boholanos have made it to the Live Shows of the The Voice of the Philippines telecast over ABS CBN Channel 2

They are Eva Gulle De Los Santos of Team Sarah and Kim Mainit of Team Lea.

Both will be featured  here in my blog

THE SELECTION PROCESS

First, a background on how they made the Top 24 of The Voice

Both Eva and Kim underwent a grueling series of auditions that were conducted in key cities around the Philippines

The televised eliminations consisted of two vital rounds: The Blind Auditions and the Battle Rounds

THE BLIND AUDITIONS

The first televised stage is the blind auditions, where auditionees sing in front of the official coaches. All coaches will be sitting on a chair that is turned back from the stage.  The coaches will first judge and only judge by the power, clarity, type and uniqueness of the artists singing prowess.

If they like what they hear and want to mentor the artist for the next stage, they will push a button by their chair that would turn the chair around to face the stage for the first time and also see the artists for the first time after they sing to avoid any due bias according to characteristics and personality.

If more than one coach turns around, the power to pick goes to the artist whom will be given the chance to pick his/her coach of choice. If no coach turns his/her chair the auditioning artists journey ends.

At the end, each of the coach will have 13 artists in his or her team who will be advancing to the next round.

THE BATTLE ROUNDS

The second stage, 'the Battles', is where two artists are mentored and then developed by their respective coach.

The coaches of the team will "dedicate themselves to developing their artists, giving them advice, and sharing the secrets of their success in the music industry".

Every member of their team battle against another member from their team. They sing the same song simultaneously, while their coach decides who should continue in the competition.

The coaches have to choose from the six individual “battles” to take artists to the live round.

During the first season, each team had thirteen artists with one vocal battle composed of three artists.

LIVE SHOWS

The final stage, dubbed as the 'Live shows', is where the surviving combatants perform in front of the coaches, audience and broadcast live.

Each coach will be having six artists in their team to begin with and the artists will go head-to-head in the competition to win the public votes. They will be divided in two groups

The first three from each team will be performing on August 25 and the other half will perform on September 1.

The outcome will all based on text votes from the TV audience. The team member that gets the highest votes is safe, and the coach/mentor will pick one from the bottom two.

The same format will be done also for the second night of Live show.
For the final stages of the 'Live Shows', the surviving combatants perform in front of the coaches and the live studio and TV audience

Details on the succeeding formats will be revealed for according to our moles, there have been some adjustments and modification in the number of semi-finalists up to the eventual round so we cannot pre- empt everyone on that

All we know is that the coaches will have a 50/50 say with the audience and the public in deciding which artists move on to the 'final round phase.

In the latter, each coach will have one member who will continue. The final (the winner round) will be decided upon by the public vote.

Your text votes are crucial to help these talented Boholanos advance all the way to final round

Throughout the final, the coaches will frequently perform with their artists.

The winner will be crowned The Voice of the Philippines.

Good luck Kim and Eva!
