Here are the Winners of the 2016 Bohol International Marathon

42 K CATEGORY
 Kilimo Abraham & compatriot dominate the race
Kilimo Abraham and Susan Jemutai ruled their respective classes in the lung- busting 42K category of the 2016 Bohol International Marathon last August 28 in Panglao, Bohol. Clocking 2:37:21, Kilimo outpaced Joseph Kigonga Mururi and Douglas Mwiti who settled for second and third places in the men’s category, respectively.

In the distaff side, Susan Jemutai dominated the run with a 15 minute lead over the second placer Merreis Ramirez. Jennifer Red Sabela rounded out the top three with her third place finish.

 21 K CATEGORY

Emmanuel Comendador won the half- marathon in 1:16:35  and was five minutes ahead of the second placer Paul James Zafico. In third place was Candelario Logrono.  Kisha Mae Delechos captured the women’s title in 1:55: 56. Second and third placers were Rodith Olave and Roselle Joy Chiu, respectively.

10 K CATEGORY

James Palma emerged as men’s titlist in the 10K run with a time of 36:37. Second and third places went to Bernard Le Guyader and Jesus Sarausa, respectively.

Mary Joy Castor was the 10K women’s titlist with a time of  50:23. In third and fourth places were Ma. Anna Buac and Emmylou Fuertes, respectively.

5 K CATEGORY

In the 5K run, Dwight Galolo emerged as men’s champ with Genson Casinillo and Christian Baquerio in second and third places. Rachel Sebandal was the women’s titlist with Ma. Zarah Oncog and Leni Cagampang in second and third places, respectively.

Respected writer & events stylist Michael Yu, president of the Bohol Runners Club, the main organizers of the Bohol- based marathon that was launched in 2012 revealed that more than a thousand runners from 15 countries and from more than 30 different running clubs registered for the fifth edition of  the sporting event that had the beautiful white sandy beaches and scenic island paradise of Panglao as the backdrop for the most anticipated international sporting spectacle in Bohol.

Preparations are now underway for the 2017 Bohol International Marathon Heritage Run that will take runners around Bohol’s famous and beautiful centuries-old churches, with the possibility of an ultra-marathon side event to take participants to several towns across Bohol on the same weekend.
