Miss Philippines Earth- 2015 Holds Bohol Screening

For the Boholana aspirants for the 2015 Miss Philippines Earth title, the journey started yesterday with the screening of applicants at the Activity  Center of Island City Mall. 

There was palpable excitement while waiting for the activity to start. The organizers showed a looped video of the winning performance of reigning Miss Philippines 2014 Jaime Herell in the international finals of Miss Earth 2014. 

 Your Blogger was invited as one of the three judges that were given the arduous task of trimming or winnowing the hopefuls to ten ladies who will be the official candidates for the inaugural search of Bohol’s first official candidate in the Miss Philippines- Earth Pageant. 

Joining me in the judging panel were Mark Cepe, a GMA 7 talent/ businessman & talented Boholano director/ mentor Michael Tago.

Here’s the criteria used to guide the judges in coming up with the final list:

Beauty of the face & legs 50%

Intelligence (Environmental knowledge) 50%

After each of the girls had their individual appearance onstage in a smart casual wear, we proceeded with our questions for the girls. After the interview, the girls had their final appearance and this time, in swimsuits of their choice.

This is not the first time that a Boholana will be competing in Miss Philippines Earth. There have been other girls who were appointed as candidates to represent their towns like Dr. Aileen Dango who represented Loboc and Soraya Hasani who represented Loay. There was Zanaida Bulalaque of Batuan who competed in the national finals in 2012. Amanda Arbitrario also competed in Miss Philippines 2014 but she represented Caloocan City.

Right now, I’m not in the liberty to divulge the names of the qualifiers so we will leave the official announcement from the organizers. Ritchell Mutia, Marketing Officer from ICM, bared that the chosen candidates will have a series of fun activities that will focus on the environment & on the girls' advocacy projects. The provincial finals will be on March 29 at the ICM Activity Center.

Miss Philippines Earth 2015: Who will be Bohol’s Best Bet?

And here’s good news for Bohol’s most beautiful & brightest ladies! 

The province of Bohol is now looking for its very first official representative to the annual nationwide search for Miss Philippines Earth that will hold its finals at the Mall of Asia Arena this May. 

Miss Philippines Earth 2014 and reigning Miss Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell will crown her successor at the end of the event

Sir Ritchel Apit Mutia, Marketing Officer of the Alturas Group of Companies bared that ICM has been chosen to oversee the Bohol edition of Miss Philippines Earth 2015. Miss Philippines Earth 2015 Bohol will now be accepting applicants for screening.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- If you are between 18 and 25 years old

- at least 5’ 5”, proportionate figure

- has a beautiful face & figure

- female born & a Filipino citizen

- with good moral character & reputation

- is familiar with local culture & environmental concerns/ problems. 

Most importantly, since the winner of Miss Philippines Earth 2015 will serve as the Ambassador to environmental protection campaigns, she has to have excellent communication skills’

WHERE TO APPLY?

Qualified applicants will undergo the March 8 screening, ICM Activity Center where the Top Ten Official Candidates will be chosen. 

The Grand Finals will be on March 29.

Congratulations to our very own Jaime Herrell for winning the 2014 Miss Earth title. She bested a field of 83 beauties from around the planet.

Truly deserving to be called Miss Earth 2014

TRIVIA: She is the second of only two Filipinas to have won the Miss Earth crown. The first was Karla Henry. Both represented Cebu in the national pageant prior to representing the country in the international pageant.
