Miss Philippines is Miss Earth 2014

Congratulations to our very own Jaime Herrell for winning the 2014 Miss Earth title. She bested a field of 83 beauties from around the planet.

Truly deserving to be called Miss Earth 2014

TRIVIA: She is the second of only two Filipinas to have won the Miss Earth crown. The first was Karla Henry. Both represented Cebu in the national pageant prior to representing the country in the international pageant.

Kris Tiffany Janson: Will She Be the 1st Filipina Miss Intercontinental?

Kris Tiffany Janson, our country’s official bet for the Miss Intercontinental pageant, will be the first of the 2014 Binibining Pilipinas queens to compete abroad. She is all set to leave for Jordan, pageant venue by October 5. 

Looking at her latest photo convinces me that she is more than ready to conquer the elusive Miss Intercontinental crown.

I saw Kris Tiffany Janson really up close and personal last August 25 when we both sat at the Panel of Judgfes for the Miss Panglao 2014 Pageant.

BELLEVUE BECKONS

The day after the Miss Panglao Pageant, Kris gamely joined Your Blogger & Norman Tinio for a quick visit to Bellevue Resort where we stayed for a few precious minutes before going on a quick tour around Bohol’s beauty spots

If Kris Tiffany is a beauty in photos, the more that she captivates in person and what a humble and well- grounded girl. This lovely Cebuana even mentioned to me that she has relatives in Bohol like the Maslogs

Miss Panglao 2014 Swimsuit Competition

SIZZLING & SMOLDERING SWIMSUIT SPECTACLE

A breathtaking fire- dancing spectacle and the pulsating rhythm of live instrumentation opened up the Miss Panglao 2014 Swimsuit Competition.

 PANGLAO’S PULCHRITUDE & POISE

The 14 fresh- faced nubile beauties of Panglao then came out to the cheers of the audience. It was a heady and interesting mix of beauties from the exotic morena island girls to the Eurasians or tisays who sashayed, swayed and strutted onstage. It was a difficult decision for the Board of Judges that included Your Blogger.

It was a fast- paced and energetic Swimsuit Competition that was conceptualized, directed & choreographed by one of Bohol’s most capable creative talents, Deo Guden, the brilliant Alona Tropical Beach Resort hotelier. I am looking forward to Mr. Guden’s handling of Miss Bohol!

Kudos to Panglao Mayor Nila Montero for believing and supporting the youth development programs of the town. Ditto for Aya Montero who founded the pageant five years ago. Since then, there has been no turning back for the pageant which has proven to be a crowd drawer and most anticipated among the town fiesta nightly presentations. 

STANDOUT IN SWIMSUIT

Best in Swimsuit is Miss Looc

The standouts were Candidates # 7, # 8, # 6, # 13 # 5 & # 14 but in the end it was Candidate # 14 who topped the segment and therefore got the Best in Swimsuit special award

SHOWCASING MIKEE ANDREI

More than just showcasing the stunning & shapely beauties of Panglao, the Swimsuit Competition also spotlighted the creativity & talent of our very own Mikee Andrei who designed and created the exquisite line of swimwear worn by the candidates

Mikee Andrei is a versatile designer who does not only RTW such as cocktail dresses but also wedding gowns, bridal entourage & men & ladies formal wear. Mikee is also a fashion instructor and the administrator of Fashion Institute of the Philippines (owned by Shanon Pamaong) and the President of the Fashion Designer Alliance (FaDAL) in Manila

Congratulations to the new Miss Panglao 2014 Charmaine Ness Sagaral of Brgy. Lourdes who wowed the judges and the crowd with her wit & spontaneity. Turns out she is a former Managing Editor of HNU’s school paper, The Word.

Miss Panglao Pageant is not just another beauty pageant. It is a unique personality search that aims to select Panglao’s ambassadress of goodwill who would not only be the spokesperson for the various projects & advocacies of the youth of Panglao but also be a positive role model for her peers and for the community

Giving Charmaine stiff competition was the lovely and articulate Catrina Ashley Naval of Arbasto Foundation Inc. who eventually settled for 1st RU honors. Second RU was Cecile Grupp  of Rotary Club of Panglao Island

Thanks to Panglao Mayor Nila Montero, Miss Panglao Founder Aya Montero & Project Director Deo Guden for the invite to judge and grace the pageant.

I was actually misty- eyed seeing how the pageant has improved by leaps and bounds. From a fledgling beauty pageant search when it started in 2010, it has become one of the most awaited & one of the grandest pageants in Bohol.

Big Stars, Bloggers & Beauty Queens in Miss Panglao 2014 Pageant!

It seemed like it was only yesterday when the first Miss Panglao was crowned but hey, the annual pageant has already crowned four winners who went on to become effective ambassadors of goodwill for the municipality. 

You see, the selected winner also becomes the spokesperson of advocacy projects of Panglao’s Local Youth Government.

According to former SK Federated Chair of SK Panglao,Hon. Amira Montero, 

“The Miss Panglao Pageant is a unique pageant since there is a strong emphasis on youth empowerment and dynamic involvement in community activities.”

Indeed, the goal of Miss Panglao is not only to crown the most beautiful girl in town but also to show that young beauty queens can become public servants too.  Through their popularity and beauty, they can help lobby to support a specific project.

I still remember Miss Panglao 2011 Judith Anne Cruz who used the seed money she won from the pageant to launch a Math Literacy project to give free basic Math tutorials to academically-challenged students in her school.

TV/ MOVIE ACTORS & NATIONAL BEAUTY QUEENS

The annual beauty spectacle that will mark its fifth year edition with a Grand Coronation Night on Monday, August 25, 8 pm at the Panglao Town Plaza will have added star value with the presence of a leading TV/ movie actor who will serenade the girls and regale the crowds. 

Past & present national beauty titleholders will also lend their beauty & glamour for a more elegant & truly beautiful celebration.

Internationally- renowned & respected pageant expert & blogger Norman Tinio whose blog is widely followed here and abroad has been invited not only to be a member of the judging panel but also to see for himself the beauty & tourism potentials of the island paradise of Panglao known for its white sandy beaches & laidback charm. 

The Miss Panglao 2014 Pageant is the most anticipated pre- fiesta highlight of Panglao's town fiesta that honors its patron saint, San Agustin.  It started in 2010 and founded by Aya Montero of Panglao Youth Organization to give opportunities for the local youth to develop and polish their leadership and community organizing skills

This year's pageant is produced by the Local Government Unit of Panglao headed by Mayor Nila Montero & MyMadamme Productions
