Rey Inting for Tagbilaran City Councilor

Rey Ramon Sarmiento Inting or simply Rey is one of 38 candidates slugging it out for a city council seat on May 9.

He easily stands out with his tall stature, debonaire looks and self- assuredness. But there's more to him than meets the eye.

With mom Dr. Pura S. Inting

Rey, the son of the late Renato Parras Inting and Dr. Pura Matig-a Sarmiento, comes from one of Tagbilaran City's politically and socially prominent families whose legacy are their forefathers who have served in various capacities as mayor, as councilor, as Constitutional Convention delegate and as senator.

EDUCATION & WORK

Right after graduating from DWCT High School in 1989, he studied BS Civil Engineering at the De La Salle University in Manila and later enrolled at Ateneo De Manila University's Leadership & Management Program. He also has a post Baccalaureate Diploma in Building & Property Management from De La Salle- College of Saint Benilde.

While working at the Southern California Edison in the United States as Engineer- in- Training/ CAD Designer, he also enrolled for a Construction Management & Planning Course at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and obtained a Certificate in Computer- Aided Design & Drafting at Los Angeles ORT Technical Institute, USA.

He is a member of the Board of Directors and Building Administrator of Tagbilaran Community Hospital and owns and manages Travel Lodge Inns.

In a political exercise where support is everything, he has the backing and moral boost from family & friends.

One can't help but notice his pragmatic approach in presenting his proposed platform of action should he be given a chance to serve in the council.

He believes that elected officials should possess integrity and responsiveness and be guided by accountability and  legality.

Given his educational background and work experience, he offers viable solutions and alternatives to strenghten the strides gained and accomplished by the present dispensation.

As the election campaign period wrapped up, Rey acknowledges how empowering and educational it had been to him. The visits, the hectic schedules, the long nights, the meetings with strategists and partymates, all these will now be a blur of memories but he is grateful for the life lessons learned during the past two months, for the  chance to be heard and for being a part of this democratic process.

Whatever the outcome, he leaves everything to destiny, to fellow Tagbilaranons and to destiny.

Saulog sa Tagbilaran 2015

Saulog sa Tagbilaran Festival is a religious and cultural celebration in the city to honor St. Joseph the Worker the city's patron saint. It kicked last Wednesday with the nightly entertainment that is timed simultaneously with the nine-day Novena Mass at the St. Joseph Cathedral.

Tagbilaranons give thanks to San Jose with merry- making & novena masses. In between, there are the sponsored nightly activities, the carnival & fun rides, the fluvial procession, the Mutya search & of course, the Saulog street dancing

Last Sunday, thousands lined up CPG Avenue all the way to the CPG Sports Complex to witness the Saulog Street Dancing, the main highlight of the Saulog sa Tagbilaran Festival 2015 and considered as the most colorful and festive of the fiesta activities.

BASIC DANCE STEPS

The dance contingents must show at least four basic dance steps which are among the judging criteria: Panguros, Panukdok, Pagpanipilya and Paghalad. Said dance steps are inspired by St. Joseph the Worker’s most basic tasks.

The Saulog streetdancing, apart from being a dance offering of the life of Saint Joseph, also allows Tagbilaranons to showcase what the City of Friendship has to offer.

REASON FOR BEING

Through the festivities galore, Tagbilaran City Mayor & Saulog 2015 Overall Chair John Gessnell “Baba” Yap  has spotlighted his commitment for Tagbilaran not only to be the gateway to the province of Bohol but also as an active key component in Bohol’s tourism drive, eco-cultural thrust & economic stimulus.

This early, I am already confident of saying that our annual city fiesta is another rousing success. Congratulations to everyone involved especially the city leadership
