“Flores de Mayo,” Spanish for
"Flowers of May," an annual festival held in the Philippines in the
month of May which began between 1854 and 1867 was celebrated in Tagbilaran
City last May 31, 2014.
Inspired by the success of SAULOG
TAGBILARAN 2014, the City Government of Tagbilaran, in coordination with the
Cathedral Parish of Saint Joseph the Worker, through the Confraternity of Our
Lady of Lourdes (COLL), had another unifying activity that capped the month-
long Maytime revelry through the Flores de Mayo and Santacruzan.
The youthful and very dynamic Mayor Baba
Yap, with the support of First Lady Jane Censoria Cajes- Yap & assistance
of the cathedral parish, was very hands- on in the staging of the religious-
cultural event. The event aimed to develop and promote the potentials of
Tagbilaran City as a tourist destination, in addition to its being a gateway to
the province of Bohol.
The activity came in two parts; the Holy Mass & the Floral Offerings for the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Procession in and around the city's major thoroughfares
Here are the highlights of the Holy Mass & Floral Offerings:
