Quir Nicole Maghuyop: From Beauty Queen to Licensed Pyschometrician

The Maghuyop family recently tendered a thanksgiving dinner for Boholana beauty queen Quir Nicole Maghuyop after she passed the Oct 27 & 28 licensure exams for psychometricians & psychologists.

Ms. Maghuyop is best remembered for being the youngest Miss Silka Bohol winner to place as Top Ten finalist in the national finals.

After graduating from HNU High School Dept., she proceeded to San Pedro College in Davao City for her premed course.  While pursuing her BS   Psychology degree, she was also the president of the Kaalam Dance Company  and as Gen. Secretary of her school’s League of Student Organizations.

If plans don’t miscarry, Quir Nicole, the third child of Gumer & Abigail Maghuyop, will proceed with her plans to proceed to medicine next schoolyear.

Congratulations once again to one of my favorite beauty queens!

Quir Nicole Maghuyop in the 2013 Miss Silka Philippines National Finals

2013 Miss Silka Bohol After winning the Miss Silka Bohol 2013 title, Quir Nicole Maghuyop placed Bohol in the national spotlight late last year when she represented the province in the national finals of Miss Silka Philippines 2014.

right after her crowning as Miss Silka Bohol 2013
Ms. Maghuyop placed in the Top Ten from out of 30 provincial & regional beauty delegates from all over the country.

Thirty candidates from all over the country competed in the 2013 Miss Silka Philippines beauty pageant held at the Market! Market! Activity Center in Taguig, November 10.

PANEL OF JUDGES

It was an impressive panel of judges that included Miss World Philippines National Franchise Director Cory Quirino, entrepreneur George Salud; Silka ambassadress Iya Villania; Miss Earth 2004 Priscilla Meirelles; basketball pros David and Anthony Semerad; San Miguel Beermen point guard Chris Banchero; Azkals striker Angel Guirado; dramatic actor Martin del Rosario; talent manager and advertising guru Arnold Vegafria; TV host Divine Lee; and Cosmetique Asia Corp. marketing manager Jane Co.

Nicole confided to me that whoever is sent to represent Bohol in the pageant should not only be the most deserving. She also has to believe in herself and must have self- confidence. You see, the moment you step off the plane and see the other girls who have won in their respective provinces is enough to make you doubt yourself.

She has a practical tip:
“Expect the worst but hope for the best. Seeing how beautiful & how tall the other candidates were, I already conditioned myself not to expect anything. I simply enjoyed bonding with the other girls especially those from the Visayas.
So when I was called as one of the Top Ten Semi-finalists, I was so shocked. Overall, it was such an unforgettable experience and made me into a more responsible and more mature person"
Here are some of the highlights from the pageant

Quir Nicole Maghuyop: Miss Silka Bohol 2013

Let's get to know the reigning Miss Silka Bohol 2013 a little better. She is Quir Nicole G. Maghuyop, a vivacious and bubbly 15 year old senior student of Holy Name University High School, Tagbilaran City. Bohol.

The certified beauty never fails to make heads turn whether she's in or out of the campus. She is doing well not only in her academics but also in her school’s co-curricular and extra- curricular activities.

Despite her immense popularity and good family background, Nicole has managed to keep her feet firmly planted on the ground, thanks to Papa Gumer & Mama Abigail who have raised her & her six siblings into well- mannered kids.

So where did she acquire the poise, the confidence & the interpersonal skills that are evident in the way she speaks, carries herself and interacts with people?

Quir Nicole then reveals the secret:
”Credit goes to the Silka beauty & skin care products that I have been using It was early last year when I found out about the search for Miss Silka Bohol. I became more interested when I learned that the winner of the local search will represent Bohol in the nationwide search for Miss Silka Philippines. I became determined not only to join but to win of course. (laughs aloud)
Part of my strategy was to get to know more about Silka since the winner was to become a brand ambassadress & spokesperson. And the best way to know the product was to use it myself. And the rest, as they say, is history”
TOP TEN PLACEMENT

After winning the Miss Silka Bohol 2013 title, she placed Bohol in the national spotlight late last year when she represented the province in the national finals of Miss Silka Philippines 2014 where she placed in the Top Ten from out of 30 provincial & regional beauty delegates from all over the country.

To be selected as Miss Silka Bohol has been a great learning & rewarding experience for me. I have become more conscious of how I carry and conduct myself especially in public because I have always believed that true beauty should come from within.
With the help of Silka products, I have become more confident of how I look and how I look at situations and at people.
The title really opened a lot of doors for me and the opportunity to represent my province in a national contest has been a humbling yet unforgettable experience. Until now, I still remember the bonding moments I had with fellow candidates from the Visayas like Iloilo, Bacolod, Tacloban, Cebu, Dumaguete, Ormoc
It never felt like we were in a competition. We were like sisters and BFFs.
Join us in the search for that one extra special Boholana beauty who will succeed Nicole that culminate with the Grand Coronation on September 26, 2014

Quir Nicole Maghuyop: In Full Bloom

Who would have thought that the once- precocious little girl who was in one of my summer workshops in public speaking & broadcasting would one day blossom into an attractive, smart and level- headed teenager?

Meet Quir Nicole G. Maghuyop, a vivacious and bubbly 15 year old senior student of Holy Name University High School.

This campus head-turner is a well- rounded student who is not only doing well in her academics but also being involved in her school’s co-curricular and extra- curricular activities.

Aside from being a Senior Girl Scout & Liaison Officer of HNU’s Scouting Unit, she is also a member of Falcon Terpsichore, her school’s dance troupe.  She is the outdoorsy type and loves to play volleyball and frisbee

This early, Nicole has already decided on the career path she is going to take after she graduates next year. She plans to pursue a BS Psychology degree for she claims to be good in dispensing advices as well as being very observant with human behavior

But she is not in a hurry to rush or be forced into adulthood with all its complications and the responsibilities that go with it. She would rather enjoy doing things that a typical girl her age is wont to do.

Lest you think she is a supercilious & frivolous brat, she is not and she is grateful for having disciplinarian but loving parents Papa Gumer P. Maghuyop and Mama Abigail who raised her and her six siblings into being well- grounded individuals.

So where did she acquire the poise, the confidence & the interpersonal skills that are evident in the way she speaks, carries herself and interacts with people?

WHAT DOES BEING MISS SILKA BOHOL MEAN TO YOU?

To be Miss Silka Bohol means being a good role model to my peers not only on how I look on the outside but also on the inside. The title also means trying my best to live up to the expectations of my family and friends.

Being Miss Silka Bohol means having the beauty to captivate people and having the heart to inspire through her involvement in projects that will benefit the community
