Bohol's Youth Pledges to Rebuild Houses

There's another side to the seeming carefree attitude of Bohol's youth. Beneath the frolicking and fun- nature was the commitment and the concern for the community and we saw this last night.

Habitat Youth BUILD, a movement that engages young people to raise funds for, and awareness of, the poverty housing situation in the Asia- pacific region, was launched at the Holy Name University Oval last night

When YouthLEADPhilippines ' John Maraguinot, a former student of mine sent me a text invitation to the event , I couldn't say no. John has been one of the most hardworking leaders of Bohol and he truly inspires

Happy to see Thea Ivory Parras my former Grade Six advisory pupil and now the HNU Central Student Government Council President as she welcomed participants to the kick- off event

More than a thousand pledges of commitment from the youth to help build 8000+ houses in all 17 municipalities were gathered.

Congratulations to Habitat for Humanity Phils and YouthLead Phils!

To all the guests, celebrity ambassadors and HFH Youth Council, for joining the activity last night.

The real challenge starts now. After all the merriment and the hoopla last night, it's time to do some real work.

It was heartwarming to see everyone forget political affiliations and work toward one goal.

Former rivals in the election, Cesar Montano and Gov. Edgar Chatto were seen in a playful banter with Habitat for Humanity's CEO Charlie Ayco during the press conference held earlier.
