Meet the Judges for Mutya sa Tagbilaran 2018

What’s a town or city fiesta without a beauty pageant to highlight the affair? There really is something about a pageant where the fairest maiden is selected to reign for a year as ambassadress of goodwill and as inspirational model.

In the case of Mutya sa Tagbilaran 2018, the winner gets to represent the city in the Miss Bohol 2018 Pageant and will be the spokesperson for the soon- to- be established Tagbilaran City Human Breast Bank.

According to Ms. Jane Yap, Tagbilaran City First Lady & Mutya sa Tagbilaran Project Chair, the Human Breast Bank is a service which collects, screens, processes, and dispenses by prescription human milk donated by nursing mothers who are not biologically related to the recipient infant. The project has the full support of City Mayor Baba Yap.

Adding star wattage, prestige and credibility to the much- talked glamorous highlight of Saulog sa Tagbilaran 2018 is the interesting mix of high- profile personalities and newsmakers that compose this year’s panel of judges.

CATRIONA GRAY, her recent victory as Miss Universe Philippines 2018 makes her the first Filipina to compete in both Miss World and Miss Universe. She was a Top Five Finalist in the 2016 Miss World Pageant held in the U.S.

NINA RICCI ALAGAO,  visual & graphic artist graduate from UP College of Fine Arts, a TV/ movie actress, model, make-up artist, events host, wife to actor Michael Flores & mom to three boys and Binibining Pilipinas 2000 who represented the country in the Miss Universe 2000 Pageant held in Cyprus.

RACHEL PETERS, Filipino-British model and beauty queen who was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2017 and Miss Universe 2017 Top Ten finalist.

PBQA is inspired by Americas Next Top Model. If there's a reality TV show for aspiring models, why not one for aspiring beauty queens especially that the Philippines is a pageant- crazy nation.

Because of the maiden season’s impressive viewership and positive feedback last year, the show producers gave the green light for a second season

With show mainstays Ali Forbes, Ms Grand International 3rd Runner-up 2013 as host, model/ actress Wilma Doesn’t as Academy Training Supervisor & comedienne/ actress Joy Viado as Academy Mistress, reality TV show for beauty aspirants will be joined by a powerhouse cast of Beauty Queen mentors, namely;

An impressive line- up of Trainers will be guesting in the show and train the girls in pasarela, projection, hair and make-up, fitness and health, social graces and etiquette, styling, speech and communication

After workshops and trainings, the girls will undergo different challenges where winners will be chosen and contestants will be eliminated.

Only 20 girls will remain in the run- up to the grand finals PINAY BEAUTY QUEEN-GRAND INTL. which will be a taped as a live beauty pageant to be held at Resort World Manila- Pageant.

The winner will be the country's representative to the Miss Grand International pageant to be held in Bangkok,Thailand on October this year.

The tapes -as-live pageant will be aired as the final episode.

THIS IS AN UPDATED VERSION: The Swimsuit Competition has always been the main target of feminists and radicals who have been branding pageants as exploitative and degrading to women

On the contrary, the swimsuits are empowering and liberating to women for it gives them the liberty to be in control and to be comfortable with their bodies.

Rather than cater to the baser and more prurient interest among men, the swimsuit competition actually highlights physical fitness and showcases the beauty and symmetry of womanhood with the candidates who actually take care of themselves being amply rewarded.

Aside from beauty of the face, figure and legs, the swimsuit competition also shows us how disciplined and how fit the girls are.

Entering a pageant is like applying for a job. Glamorous yes but one that takes a lot of hard work from the girls especially for all the appearances, projects and other stuff they are required to accomplish for one year of reign.

During the 2014 Bb Pilipinas Pageant set amidst the colorful & frenzied tribute to four of the most popular Philippine festivals , there was an ample display of beauty and charm as the girls sashayed and posed on stage in their modest one piece swimwear

It has been said that whoever gets the Best in Swimsuit Award is already assured of an important crown as previous results has shown

So when MJ Lastimosa was revealed as this year’s Best in Swimsuit, I almost jumped off from where I was seated for I knew that she was already a lock for one of the five titles.
