Republic Act 9706
declares September 29 of every year as a special nonworking public holiday in
the Municipality of Balilihan, province of Bohol to commemorate Sumad or its
foundation anniversary.

This year, Balilihan celebrated its 186th Sumad recognizing various gains that the town has achieved through the years and looking forward to the best of things to come.
In support of its
agricultural developments, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), National
Irrigation Administration (NIA), and the Local Government of Balilihan
inaugurated irrigation projects in Brgy. Sagasa and Sal-ing.
At the Commemorative Program for its Sumad Celebration, Balilihan also launched Bohol Farm Tourism as its newest economic driver.
Ably led by Mayor Dominisio Chatto and Vice Mayor Pureza Veloso-Chatto, the LGU has encouraged the private sector to invest in agritourism, where visitors may be brought to farms to engage in agriculture-based activities.
One of the highlights of the festivities was the Agro-Fair where all 31 barangays displayed their agricultural produce as well as crafts & processed food. Every year, Balilihan has been staging & celebrating without fail its Agricultural Fair. Balilihan, being an agricultural
town produces rice, vegetables, root
crops, tilapia, native chicken, processed foods and handicrafts which are all
sold at the market.
