The 20-year-old Miss Gomez was the third Filipina to win the title, after fellow Cebuana Miss Tourism International 2012 Rizzini Alexis Gomez who crowned her during the pageant, and Maria Esperanza Manzano, who won in 2000.

Miss Gomez bested a record-number of 59 candidates. It was the largest participation since the inaugural pageant in Kuching, Sarawak, in 1994.

Gomez is the third Filipina to win the Miss Tourism International crown, which is now a back-to-back win with Rizzini Alexis Gomez also a Cebuana, who won the same crown last year.
