It's a delight to blog about adventurous Boholanos who have made a mark in places we only dream of and read about.
Our featured Boholana today is my friend Yonie Bermoy Malig-on was born on
November 6, 1963 at Mansasa District, Tagbilaran City, Bohol Philippines.
She has been based in Hawaii for almost 3o years now
She is the youngest daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Mauro and Lourdes Bermoy, married to Martin Malig-on Jr. in January 1,
1987 and migrated to the United States on April 7, 1987.
Yonie graduated her High School at the
University of Bohol pursued her higher education at the Holy Name University in
Tagbilaran City, Bohol Philippines with a degree in Bachelor of Science in
Commerce, Majored in Accounting.
Prior to her coming to the United
States, she had worked at the Dept. of Public Works and Highways, in Bohol
District and was a part time fashion model wearing Philippine Designer
Signature Ready to Wear at Alturas Dept. Store in Tagbilaran City, Bohol in
1984.
The busy career woman surely knows how to juggle her time between work, charity & community volunteer work and attending to her husband's needs.
Yonie also manages to squeeze in her tight schedule her love for dancing, singing, cooking and finding time for golf and tennis as well
Her passion is traveling & exploring the world
FULFILLED CAREER WOMAN
She presently works for Nordic PCL Construction, Incorporated, aspiring to be the most respected builder in the United States, Canada and North America, renowned for excellence, leadership and unsurpassed value and has been with the company since 1996 as their Payroll Coordinator, Hawaii District.

Yonie is very active in the community
and involved in many non-profit organizations such as Aloha United Way as a
Campaign Coordinator, from 1996 to 2008, Oahu Filipino-American Jaycees, Hawaii.
She was also a member of Filipino
American Multi-Ethnic Society as Auditor and her longest affiliation from 2002
to 2013 is with the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii as Director where
she Chaired many events such as:
Membership Committee, Aloha & Hospitality & Christmas Party
Committee. She also Co-chaired their
Finance Committee, Filipino Entrepreneur of the Year, Installation Gala, and a
committee member in their Golf Tournament and Taste of Kalihi.

Honolulu, Hawaii, a Gala in honor of his Excellency the President of the
Philippines Pres. Noynoy Aquino, held at Tapa Ballroom, Hilton Hawaiian

Inaugural Ball" of President George W. Bush, Washington, DC.
One of a few Boholanos who have been invited to a
black tie event and attended by America’s Who’s Who
BEAUTIFUL & BRAINY BOHOLANA
In addition to her community involvement,
she was also named MHSCC Diamond Queen in the Philippines and Ms. Terno both in year 2007.

She truly is a beautiful woman inside and out.
She was one of those who rallied and responded to Bohol's call for help when a 7.2 earthquake devastated her home province.
Aside from digging into her own pocket, she was also able to help raise funds to buy some relief assistance to the quake victims
Cheers once again to this amazing Boholana who continues to bring sunshine and smiles in the beautiful island paradise of Hawaii
