ABS CBN News Anchor & Naval Officer Exchange I Do's

Lovebirds Errol & Pia
Theirs is a love story that can rival that of popular love teams Katniel or Jadine in ABS CBN’s unforgettable teleseryes.

Meet #PIERROL, collectively, the name for Philippine Navy officer Errol Dela Cruz & ABS CBN News reporter/ anchor/ TV host Pia Madel Gutierrez.

The dashing groom is the son of Mr. Jaime Dela Cruz & Mrs. Arsenia Dela Cruz while the gorgeous bride is the daughter of Engr. Efigenio Gutierrez & Mrs. Bernadette Gutierrez

Who would have guessed that a serendipitous chance encounter in a debate tournament at the University of Baguio back in 2003 would blossom into a serious relationship and culminate their love for each other with the exchange of lifetime vows done not once but twice!

The first one was a very simple yet intimate church ceremony at the INC Chapel in Kias, Baguio City on Christmas Day. A more lavish ceremony officiated by Tarlac City Mayor Gelacio “Ace” Manalang, the couple’s close friend  & inspiring figure followed the next day at the Baguio Country Club and witnessed by family, friends and colleagues.

Lovely & Luminous Bride. Dashing & Dapper Groom
Although sparks already flew when they first met, commitments at that time made it impossible to explore possibilities or to forge a deeper friendship. The aspiring naval officer & gentleman was so smitten with the pretty & brainy coed the first time he laid his eyes on her.

He eventually got the lovely object of his affections to say yes when he asked her to be his date for the PMA Hop but alas, what was supposed to be a memorable & exciting campus event for the cadet turned out to be a disappointment when she backed out at the last- minute.

After that incident, they lost touch and never heard from each other even before he graduated from the Philippine Military Academy. It was only five years after that they were able to reconnect.

Thanks to Facebook, both were given a chance to start anew and really know each other. After overcoming their initial shyness & self- consciousness, they started going out for coffee and dinner dates. Their friendship soon developed into something more serious and both realized that they were already madly in love with each other.

More than a testament of a couple’s love, respect, trust & commitment, their love story is an inspiring tale of why true love is worth all the sacrifices and trials.
