With the Miss World Philippines  2017 Pageant on its last stretch before the coronation night on Sunday, September 3 and getting talked about by Boholanos online primarily because of high- profile Boholana beauty Glyssa Bingas Perez’ participation, let us recall the Boholanas who have qualified in the nationwide search.

ANNA MARIS IGPIT Who can forget Anna Maris Arcay Igpit? The Panglao beauty is the first and , so far, the only Boholana to have represented Bohol in the Miss World Pageant. 

She got the chance to compete for the blue crown after she was selected as Bb Pilipinas- World 2006. She went on to Warsaw, Poland later the same year to compete with more than a hundred beauty delegates from around the world. 

She may not have made it but she landed on the front pages of Poland’s leading newspapers after being voted by Polish readers as one of Miss World’s Five Prettiest.

After Cory Quirino acquired the franchise to select the Philippines’ official bets from 2011 to 2016, the following have been among the lucky few to pass the rigid screenings:

DONNA MARICEL CARDINO In 2011, it was Donna Cardino of Clarin, Bohol who qualified for the national finals after passing the screening held in Cebu City. 

The 2004 Miss Bohol Top Ten Finalist and Best in Swimsuit didn’t make the Top Twelve that year but paved the way for the Boholana to be recognized in the newly acquired Miss World franchise in the Philippines.

FER MARY BALIQUIG In 2012, it was Fer Mary Baliquig, Miss Tagbilaran 2010 and Miss Bohol 2010 1st RU who qualified for the finals but didn’t make it. 

Earlier that year, she also qualified for Bb Pilipinas but lack of support hindered what might have been a breakthrough performance.

GAZINI GANADOS The last Boholana to make it as official candidate was the celebrated beauty Gazini Ganados who qualified in 2014. 

She was one of the heavy favorites but she only made the Top Twelve due to inexperience and her young age.

Miss Bohol 2016 Glyssa Leiann Bingas Perez aims to become the second Boholana to represent the Philippines in the biggest & longest running international beauty pageant, the Miss World Pageant.

The 22 years old who graduated with a BS Commerce degree major in Finance during her college days in Australia where she spent her growing up years is one of the 35 official candidates for Miss World Philippines 2017.

Aside from the Miss World Philippines crown, there are three other titles at stake, namely; 

Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas, Miss Multinational Philippines and Miss Eco Philippines.

Although Ms. Perez wasn’t among the favorites during the early stages of the competition, she is slowly inching her way into the winning circle after getting shortlisted in the Sports Fitness Challenge and getting noticed in the Top Model category. 

With her innate charm, eloquence, poise and grace, there is no denying that Bohol’s bet will shine on coronation night set this Sunday, September 3 at the MOA Arena.

Florabel Sakaki is Miss Dauis 2017

Florabel Sakaki, a 17 year old half- Japanese beauty was crowned Miss Dauis 2017 after she outshone 11 other beauties in a glittering two- hour show held at the Dauis Sports Arena last weekend. Aside from the top tiara, Bingag’s lovely bet also swept the swimsuit, evening gown & interview segments.

This year, the pageant committee revised the scoring system. Instead of the usual "back- to- zero" where the finalists start with a clean slate, the finalists' preliminary scores were added to their final round scores and this helped Ms Sakaki clinch the crown  even though she faltered quite a bit in the final Q & A.

After topping all three areas of judging, Ms. Sakaki already had a commanding lead going into the final round.  Your Roving Eye believes that Miss Dauis will be one of the frontrunners for Miss Bohol 2018. She has the height, the grace & elegance of a queen.

Miss Totolan Charlene Barrete was named 2^nd RU and selected as Aldea Image Model winner.  Rounding out the Top Five were Miss Biking Estiffany Barasbaras and Miss Songculan Mary Krislien Escabarte.

Miss Panglao 2017 Glamshots

Miss Panglao, one of Bohol’s most keenly anticipated beauty & personality competitions makes a splashy comeback this year with the release of the pageant candidates’ official glamshots.

After a year of hibernation, the Miss Panglao Pageant comes back with some format changes and innovations to ensure a series of exciting and interactive pageant- related activities leading to the grand coronation night on Friday, August 25, 8 pm, Panglao Town Plaza. 

In congruence with national and international pageant standards, the pageant will also incorporate a “No Make Up” round during the pre- judging. In lieu of the talent competition which has been scrapped for practical reasons, there will be a Pre- Pageant Night where the girls will compete in the casual wear and resort wear competitions plus the onstage personality interviews which accounts for 25% of the total preliminary scores that would determine the final five.

Hon. Amira Montero, Miss Panglao founder and chair of the SB’s committee on tourism, arts & culture, promises a grand and elegant coronation night that will highlight the beauty of Panglao. Aside from the 14 candidates who will all be highlighted during the pageant finals, Miss Panglao 2017 will be graced a famous TV/movie personalities and among the judges would be national beauty titleholders. Creative genius Deo Guden who is behind the pageant’s creative and production aspects promises a fast- paced show that is hip and modern.
