The 2018 edition of Mutya sa Tagbilaran marks the fifth year since the glamorous highlight of Tagbilaran City underwent a major facelift. Under the visionary guidance of the city’s First Lady Jane C. Miss Silka Bohol 2015 will spotlight 15 young, lovely & smart Boholanas as they pit looks, talent, personality & wit for the right to represent the province of Bohol in the national finals and showcase to the rest of the country the best of Boholana beauty & charm.  

Miss Silka Bohol 2015 is one of 30 qualifying pageants at the provincial & regional levels in Luzon, Visayas & Mindanao that gives Filipinas everywhere the opportunity to represent the Silka brand.

Miss Silka Bohol winner will then join and compete with the other provincial & regional winners from all over the country for the title of Miss Silka Philippines who will automatically become the brand’s image model and product endorser in Silka’s print and TV ad campaign for 2016.

Today, May 1, the beautiful journey towards the Miss Silka Bohol 2015 crown begins with the May 1 & 2 preliminary screening of aspirants to be held at Island City Mall (ICM)

It was July last year & the reigning Miss Silka Bohol 2014 Marian Grace Malubay was waiting for a ride right in front of Alturas Mall when a talent scout approached her and invited her to join the screening for the 2014 Miss Silka Bohol Search. She did and the rest, as they say, is history!

Christine Juguan almost gave her barangay a back-to- back Mutya sa Tagbilaran crown after giving a strong performance in the citywide pageant. She placed a strong 1^st RU to Mary Eda Cimafranca in the recently- concluded Mutya sa Tagbilaran 2015 last April 24.

Here's the clincher: Did you know that before earning the right to represent the city in the forthcoming Miss Bohol 2015 set this July, Mary Eda was 1st RU to Marian Grace Malubay in the 2014 Miss Silka Bohol Pageant last September 26, 2014? 

She was quite raw being a pageant newbie that time and one of the two youngest candidates. Yet, one cannot deny that she already had the potential and she did. She was Best in Swimsuit and almost won over Marian. 

Fate, Destiny & Timing indeed play a crucial role in crowning a beauty queen.

Miss Silka Bohol 2015 has now formally opened its application process for Bohol’s aspiring beauty queens.   

I           MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A.     single, never been married, has not given birth and possesses good moral reputation

B.     between 15 & 23 years old on the day of the competition (birth certificate as proof of age)

C.     at least 5’ 3” in height, has fair & smooth complexion

D.     proportionate in height and figure and she must be physically fit

E.      has not won a beauty title in the  provincial, regional & national level

F.      born to one or both Boholano  parent/s or must trace her roots in Bohol

G.     pleasing in personality & can express herself in spoken English

H.     must be a bonafide resident of Tagbilaran City & Bohol ( as attested by Punong Barangay)

I.      for former Miss Silka Bohol candidates, she must not have placed in the Top Four and there has         to be at least a two year gap since the previous pageant edition she has joined in. 

II         REQUIREMENTS:

All potential candidates must submit the following requirements:

1.    Duly accomplished candidate application form and information sheet in duplicate copies

2.    Proof of residence as attested by the Punong Barangay

3.    Photocopy of birth certificate for official conformity

4.    Parental consent is required if candidate is below 18 years old

5.    One close up photograph (4R)

6.    One whole body photograph in swimwear (4R)

Miss Silka Philippines 2014 Is Miss Palawan

It was a highly anticipated Miss Silka Philippines 2014 as far as Your Blogger and many Boholanos are concerned. You see, a heavy media onslaught was unleashed for Silka & its pageant by the Bohol- based event organizers.

BOHOL'S BET 

Proof of the pudding? Our very own Marian Grace Bantol Malubay garnered 10,000 Likes in a matter of hours as Bohol responded to her call for support. 

She would have won the award as she had a comfortable lead over the next- ranked candidate going into the last seconds before the deadline of 12 midnight November 8. (We based it on the original guidelines sent by the organizers regarding the duration of the voting: From 12 noon of December 7 and ends at 12 midnight November 8.) 

Apparently, there was a last- minute extension of the deadline that was extended to 12 noon of November 9 and extended again to 3 pm of the same day.

Even the name of the award kept changing too. From Miss Popularity to People’s Choice to Social Media Favorite.

SILKY SMOOTH STUNNER

Kathreen Grace Ahorro  from faraway Puerto Princesa, Palawan was named Miss Silka Philippines 2014. 

Her court included 1^st RU Miss Cebu, 2^nd RU Miss Zambales & 3^rd RU Miss Quezon.

Beauties from Bacolod, Pangasinan,   Pampanga, Cavite, Bulacan & Metro Manila rounded out the Top Ten.

None of the girls from Mindanao including the two standouts from Davao advanced to the Top Ten.

''

An early favorite was Miss Quezon who snagged the Best in Casual Wear & Best in Swimwear awards but faltered a bit in the Q & A

Miss Bicolandia who earlier was named Miss Talent didn’t make the next round.

The composition of the Top Ten and eventual results made me realize that the pageant was on the lookout for a girl who was already white as their brand ambassador. This is not the pageant for the morena girls who became fairer after using the products.

 Bohol and the other provinces should now be on the lookout for the prototype that they are searching for.

Don’t worry Marian for you did a splendid job. We believed we sent the right girl but as in any contest, there would be other girls who simply stand out. Marian is destined for other things. She may not have made it but she won the hearts of many.
