Why Gui Adorno Won Eat Bulaga's You're My Foreignoy

Your Blogger watched the Grand Finals of Eat Bulaga’s the first- ever You're My Foreignoy, personality contest for male foreigners who embodies and embraces the Filipino in his heart.

There were eight finalists. One from Asia, one from South America, one from the Middle East and the rest from Europe


GRAND PRIZE WINNER


Twenty seven year old Guilherme "Gui" Adorno of Portugal won over the seven other guys and became P200,000 richer. 

Gui won because of his consistent performance and he gave off this mature and sophisticated image that was boosted by giving a cover version of the Eraserheads' Huling El Bimbo with matching guitar rendition

He is a print & commercial model and his latest is the Creamsilk TV Commercial

THE RUNNERS UP:

First runner-up was James Sumner from England, and second runner-up was Diego Furoni from Italy. They won P75,000 and P50,000 respectively.

SPECIAL AWARDS:

Two special awards were given; the Facebook-based Dabarkads Choice Award went to Hong Kong's Richard Hwan, a 21-year-old student of UP Diliman. The Best in Talent Award went to Sumner who sang Lord, Patawad. They both got P20,000 each.

The other finalists were Eduardo Fagundes from Brazil,Petar Sajko from Croatia, Richard Hwan from Hong Kong, Christian Arno Williams from England and Reza Kianifar from Iran

AUDIENCE FAVORITES

I really thought it was between audience favorites Richard Hwan & Reza Kianifar who both were charming and thrilled everyone with their entertaining talent presentations but I guess a bigger weight was given for subdued masculinity, gentlemanly aura & sophistication.

JUDGING PANEL

The panel that decided the fate of the eight finalists were Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz and 1993 Miss World 2nd Runner Up Rufa Gutierrez, award-winning broadcast journalist Jessica Soho, Lordinio Vergara of the Philippine Normal University and Dabarkads Joey de Leon who conceptualized You're My Foreignoy.
