Close Encounters with Past & Present Miss Philippines Earth Queens

Of all the 14 past and reigning Miss Philippines Earth winners, only four would remain entrenched in my mind. They are 2002 April Ross Perez, 2008 Karla Henry, 2010 Pysche Resus & 2014 Jaime Herrel.

I had the chance to meet them when they came here either during or after their respective reigns. I remember April Ross who was breathtakingly beautiful when I first saw her in July 2002 to judge Miss Bohol Sandugo 2002. The next time I saw her, she was already in the thick of preparations for the swimsuit video of the Miss Earth 2002 taped in Alona Beach, Panglao.

My only regret? I never had the chance to have a photo with her but she gave me my biggest thrill as a pageant emcee when I introduced her during the pre- pageant event with the following lines “please welcome our very own Miss Philippines!"
during the Miss Panglao after party with Ms Henry

I met Karla Henry, the first Filipina to be crowned Miss Earth during the 2011 Miss Panglao Pageant where she guested with good friend 2006 Bb Pilipinas- World Anna Maris Igpit.

during 2010 Miss Tagbilaran with Psyche Resus & Gwenaelle Ruais
I had the chance to see Pyschee Resus during the 2010 Mutya sa Tagbilaran and later at the 2010 Miss Bohol Sandugo where she was a judge at both pageants. This time I had a photo opportunity.

with Miss Earth 2014 Jaime Herrel during Miss Panglao 2014
Finally, Jaime Herrel, the second Filipina to win the Miss Earth crown. She was sandwiched between me and Norman Tinio, the country’s top pageant blogger. when we served as judges during the 2014 Miss Panglao Pageant.

Imagine my thrill when she obliged me with a photo opportunity!
