Mrs. Maria Fe Rocha Lumayag @ 90

Turning 90 is nothing to squeeze at

This milestone was the perfect reason why an entire clan pulled out all the stops to ensure that it would be celebrated in a meaningful and dignified manner that befits the stature of the celebrant

I was supposed to be the emcee for the special occasion but before the night was over, I ended up being more than just the emcee.

I became an instant admirer to a gracious woman who was more than just being Lola Nena to 10 adoring grandchildren and five great grandkids

LUMAYAG'S LOVELY & LOVING LOLA

She is after all, Mrs. Ma. Fe Rocha Lumayag, wife of the late Ninong Sanchez Lumayag and mother to the late Cary Lumayag, Marjon Lumayag, Gibby Lumayag and Marie Cecille Lumayag- Alejandro, a U.S.- based nurse who flew in for the celebration and family reunion.

MUSICAL PEDIGREE

Ma'am Fe finished her Bachelor's degree in Music and Voice at the Conservatory of Music from the University of Santo Tomas and before Ma'am Fe officially retired from the music scene, she was the Department of Education's Bohol Division Music Supervisor and during the same period, Bohol produced a lot of National Champions particularly in The National Music Competitions for Young Artists Foundation, Inc. (NAMCYA) which incidentally, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this August

The evening's celebration became an enchanting musical extravaganza with stellar performances from Alma Golosino, Frex Tongco and Yeng Arellano whose musical stylings dazzled and awed the guests.

Trust Mrs. Enriquieta Borja- Butalid, another Boholana music impresario to exact unforgettable performances from her proteges

The Dimiao Children's Rondalla, 1998 NAMCYA National Champions, delighted the guests with their salute and tribute  for Ma'am Fe through a thirty minute musical interlude

All in all,  it was a poignant and heartwarming display of love, affection and loads of respect with friends and family particularly the Calibo, Tinampay, De La Cruz, Lumayag, Busia, Rocha, Casenas and Sanchez clans expressing their warmest felicitations for the Grand Dame of the Lumayag Clan

VERSATILE BAND

Special mention to the members of the Versatile Band for they never fail to amaze everyone with their showmanship and musical inventiveness.

Perhaps, the newer generation of talented yet cocky band members can take lessons in showmanship, humility and knowing the difference between being performers and being entertainers from these unassuming guys

Congratulations to K & N Productions for another successful event and organized through the efforts Lola Nena's grandchildren.

In particular,I would like to mention KC Lumayag, entrepreneur- daughter of Marjon & Cecile, for the event's theme & concept, Ghen Lumayag, photographer- graphics artist daughter of Gibby & Nellie Lumayag for the video presentations and photographic requirements, Marky Lumayag, son of Marjon & Cecile and of course, LJ Lumayag, Bohol's top event organizer and son of Gibby and Nellie who put everything together.

These guys were the ones behind- the- scenes before and during the event.

Cheers!

GROWING UP VS GROWING OLD

As I pointed out in my opening spiel, there is a BIG world of difference between Growing Old and Growing Up. Growing Old is mandatory while Growing Up is optional

And I'm very proud to say that the star of the celebration has not only grown up but has also grown old beautifully and coping gracefully
