Loon's Our Lady of Light Reemerges In Maribojoc, Bohol

Here’s the interesting narrative from Bohol First Lady Pureza V. Chatto from her and Gov. Edgar Chatto’s visit to the  residence of Dr Reuel and Gryll Relampagos in Maribojoc, Bohol two days ago.

Bohol First Couple & Relampagos Couple with Birhen sa Kasilak replica
The 7.2 magnitude earthquake on October 15, 2014, levelled to the ground the old stone church of Our Lady of Light in Loon, Bohol. Nothing is left of the church but rubble. Imagine their pleasant surprise when they came across this replica right at the front yard of the Relampagos’ residence in Maribojoc.

The magnificent beauty, the elegance & the splendor of the Birhen sa Kasilak are all captured and preserved in the replica

Hats off to Dr. Reuel & Gryll Relampagos for this. Thanks to Gov Edgar & First Lady Pureza for bringing us to this enchanting place through your photo essays.

1950 Miss Bohol: Felomina Redulla Chiu of Maribojoc

Finally, somebody has responded to our call for more information and for data verification and photographic evidences regarding Miss Bohol pageant history

1950 Miss Bohol: Felomina Redulla Chiu of Maribojoc

Here is Part Two of the messages complete with photo validation from Carino Antequisa of Maribojoc:

Sir Phillip, there is also a clear information that another beautiful lady from Maribojoc, Ms. Felomina Chiu, was crowned Miss Bohol in 1950.
How come that in your blog you mentioned that the Miss Bohol Pageant started in 1955?
Kindly shed light on this Sir, Raul as Maribocanons are following your blog.

Hi Mr. Carino Antequisa,

First of all, thank you for the response and for the photographic evidences. I am truly grateful. With regards to my claim that that Mrs. Valles was crowned Miss Bohol 1955, it was just passed on to me by a fellow blogger. In an earlier blog, I made an appeal there for anybody to come forward and please share any data to confirm or correct the posts that we made.

I hope this would shed light on the matter and appease whoever was slighted because of the sin of omission.

Thanks once again

1941 Miss Bohol: Paula Baura Raagas of Maribojoc

Finally, somebody has responded to our call for more information and for data verification and photographic evidences regarding Miss Bohol pageant history

Here are the messages complete with photo validation from Carino Antequisa of Maribojoc:
Hi Sir Philip, in this blog you mention that Former Maribojoc Mayor Paula "Daday Raagas Valles was crowned Miss Bohol in 1955. This information contradicts to the print in a photo kept by a relative of the former beauty queen that says "Miss Bohol, Paulita B. Raagas, Bohol Night, May 4, 1941."
Also in your blog you mentioned that the ex-mayor was born in 1922 and this was also confirmed by relatives, thus, if she was crowned Miss Bohol in 1955, she was already 33 years old then. I believe it is unlikely. However, if she was crowned in 1941, she was just 19 years old then, certainly at the prime of her beauty.
Could you check your source on this, Sir. Fellow Maribojocanons are wondering.

Guess Where's the Hottest Place To Be In Bohol?

Bohol First Lady Pureza V. Chatto is indeed perfect in her role as culture and arts emissary of the province. Through her Facebook page, she has toured us to some of the most amazing and interesting places in Bohol.

Here is an interesting first hand account from Mrs. Chatto
July 29, 2014. It is exciting to be in a place so amazing as the residence of Dr Reuel and Gryll Relampagos in Maribojoc, Bohol. I used to watch The Adventures of Gulliver when I was small.
Entering the gate of the Relampagos Residence, I thought I was in Lilliput where I can peek the inside of a church through its roof; where I am as tall as the church belfry; where I can run my fingers on the house stairs! I said to myself, "this is an enchanted kingdom"!
The kingdom is vintage and rustic giving me goosebumps of our rich culture and heritage.
Here now are some photos from that visit:

It was a happy, festive crowd. Local government delegations had their own gimmicks to cheer their respective candidates.
