Good Luck Megan Young

Many Filipino pageant fans feel giddy as we await the crowning of the new Miss World

Understandably so for we finally sent a very strong candidate who just might bring home the very elusive blue tiara that represents the only major international beauty title a Filipina hasn't won yet

We already have two Miss Universes, four Miss International titlists, one Miss Earth and one Miss Supranational.

A victory tonight will mean being the only country to have won all the major international beauty titles

A triumph tonight will also confirm our status as home of the most beautiful women in the world

Forty years ago, Evangeline Pascual lost the Miss World crown by a single vote when American actor Gregory Peck voted for fellow American Marjorie Wallace as winner.

Twenty years later, another Filipina by the name of Ruffa Gutierrez almost won but had to settle for the 2nd Princess title after losing out in the final voting to Miss Jamaica and Miss South Africa

Another 20 years have passed and the time is ripe and long- overdue for a victory by a Filipina

Putting aside our patriotism, Megan Young has been picked by major pageant websites around the world as the Girl To Beat.

From the day she arrived in Bali up to the final stretch of the world's biggest international pageant with no less than 127 candidates, she has been consistent and has made her mark

In fact, she has won an important Challenge Event and landed as runner up in two other Challenge Events

If there is neither politics nor a demolition job involved, the Philippines will finally be crowned Miss World

A win by Megan would be beneficial for the Miss World Organization and replace Miss Universe as the international pageant that is closest to the Pinoy's hearts

So will it be a Date with Destiny for Megan or will it be a heart- breaking loss to a surprise winner

Win or lose, Megan Young has already made a mark and has endeared herself to the Filipino pageant fans permanently

Good luck Megan!

We hope and pray that it has been written already in the stars that you will shine the brightest tonight

Remember, a lady is crowned a beauty queen not because she is  the prettiest or the smartest. It has something to do with Luck, Timing and Destiny
